Sweet Baby Milestone + Family Studio Session for Baby Tomas

It’s been a minute since I got to work with a mama who wanted to style a session that included outfit changes. Luckily, I was able to accommodate Gabriela’s request, get her cute family in front of the camera, and I’m SO happy with how it turned out! I’m also thrilled that, after her internet research and website portfolio reviews, Gabriela asked me to make this pretty come to life. Just wait until you see how Gabriela and Dino’s little sweethearts hammed it up in the studio!

Because Tomas has a possible egg allergy, Gabriela and I worked together to come up with an alternative setting for his first birthday portraits. These beautifully styled, oversized typeface letters, and some very minimal white and clear balloons, did the trick perfectly! I’d love to see more of my families go this route for birthdays.

These father-son and mother-son portraits have to be some of my recent favorites! What an amazing series this would be to display on a wall in the family home. Gabriela told me she intends to display these photos in many places in their home, including the master bedroom, living room, and in the kids’ bedrooms! It’s still such an awesome feeling, knowing how many families have my work adorning their walls, memories made and treasured.

While I adore photographing at beautiful outdoor locations in Connecticut, I love when families schedule portrait sessions inside the studio. When I look back through albums, I’m always struck by how classic images taken in the studio are. There aren’t usually many of these photos, which makes them all the more special!

You see … those visits to parks and the beach, etc. – they’re all great. But playing as a family – these are the moments that remind us where the heart is. I love when I can photography my clients in the studio. With that in mind, consider moving your family milestone session into the studio!

A Beautiful Cottage Style Cake Smash Session at the Studio for Jordyn!

What’s better than a day in the studio with a birthday baby?! I’ll tell you what – almost nothing! Milestone sessions are a favorite pastime of mine (if I’m allowed to call my work a pastime). You’ve gotta love capturing sessions that involve cake, right?! It’s always important to enjoy the little things, no matter where you are in life or your business. I created this special scene with the help of Jordyn’s mama, Nicole, and my girl Sweet Lisa’s Exquisite Cakes, who is always fun to collaborate with. Check out all the pretty below!

Kicking it off with a cute little setup inspired by a photo Nicole sent me while we were planning Jordyn’s milestone session. My clients are always the most creative and I am here for it! Plus, how adorable did the styling turn out? (Not to mention, my cute subject …)

I’m so in love with Jordyn’s linen birthday crown! We did a rosette swirl smash cake. Look at all that gorgeous frosting. The cake wouldn’t have been complete without that pretty gold topper! Sweet Lisa’s Exquisite Cakes really went to town and made the most gorgeous pink ombre swirl smash cake. All of this was photographed in my Greenwich, Connecticut photography studio, which was festively adorned with all those balloons. Springy perfection!

A Traditional First Birthday Milestone Session for Baby Luca

This sweet milestone session might just be one of my favorites I’ve shared so far in 2022! I fell in love with the ocean-inspired color scheme right away. The soft pastel tones of cornflower blue and sea foam green are so good together. Plus, you add in the traditional wardrobe choices and you have a dream milestone session! I’ve been dying to share this one and I’m so excited to finally do so. These shoots are always so much fun to put together, and I really work with the most amazing parents and families to bring them to fruition. I love each and every one of my client families to pieces!

Of course, mom Kristina knocked it out of the park with all of the adorable details! I love how she went beyond my expectations with her selections for this studio milestone session. And Luca was adorable, providing me with endless cuteness to capture. I am obsessed with it all, styled so simply. Are you loving these colors like I am?

More cute smiles! Did I mention that Kristina works for Melissa & Doug, maker of the train Luca is pulling? I kind of want to gift one of these trains to EVERYONE.

To wrap up this studio session with one year-old Luca, this darling setup. I have to admit that it makes my heart go pitter-patter! I feel so inspired by our home state of Connecticut with this color scheme. From Luca’s little outfits, to the classic texture of my studio chair, to those fun balloons in the background. Starting with that, and Luca the superstar, it didn’t take much to make this cuteness come to life.

A Gorgeous, Pastel Cake Smash Session at the Looking Up Photography Studio

We are looking forward to spring, and what better way to do that than with a gorgeous studio cake smash session! Before COVID, I had the pleasure of doing many beautiful cake smash sessions, so I was excited to photograph this fun shoot with baby Reagan. All the balloons, and Reagan’s sweet smiles, gave me such a sense of normalcy as I photographed this session. One of my favorite vendors provided the cake, and you can find her information linked below. I couldn’t have been more honored that Kristen chose me to capture this milestone!

Let’s start off with a gorgeous frock – always a good place to start if you ask me! Kristen is responsible for picking out this beauty. I love both the classic design and the modern and punchy watercolors. We also got Reagan in a crisp white headband, which perfectly accented her cute little features!

Take a closer look at how expressive she is.

We captured so many beautiful photos – it was heaven! The light in my studio never disappoints and helps me bring the pretty. The two different outfits for Reagan were the sweetest ensembles that any baby girl would look incredible in. The balloon color combinations were fun and unique, especially when paired with gold accents. I’m always excited when I get to deck out the studio in such springy colors. I love it all! Such a lovely way to spend a day in the studio. What a dream!

Wish Upon a Star | 1920s Inspired Cake Smash Session

When you wish upon a star … This is the year of the cake smash for Looking Up Photography! Today, I have this fun, gold star-inspired cake smash session to share with you. Don’t worry – I’ll have more studio cake smash sessions coming your way soon!
·
Being a mom myself, there are certain things that are just a blast for me as a photographer, too. Photographing cake smash sessions is definitely one of them! It is so much fun seeing how differently each baby reacts to their cake (plus, I get my baby fix!).
·
Darling Mia was set up with a golden, starry celebration inspired by the 1920s, to match her nursery décor. A mix of complementary pastels and soft metallics were in order for this session, with lots of balloons and a beautifully frosted cake. And how exquisite is Mia, dressed in her birthday best? I’ve been dying to share this session!

Any fancy Gatsby-inspired party for a one year-old must involve pink and lots of tulle! A snow-colored first birthday dress plus plenty of balloons did the trick! Balloons are one of my favorite cake smash session touches for a little extra texture. We can always customize balloons to your colors and theme.
·
I love how whimsical this session is. It’s the perfect blend of refined and still very first birthday-feeling. Nothing like a sparkly floral headband to dress up an ensemble! Some gold stars were added in the background to tie the session to Mia’s nursery décor seamlessly. Aren’t they the cutest?

Reliving the Roaring 20’s | Connecticut One Year Session

The 20’s are back again, baby! And so is little Elodie, celebrating her first birthday with a 20’s themed Cake Smash Session. I loved celebrating her birth a year ago with her newborn session, and ever since then she’s only grown more beautiful and more full of personality!

Her parents, Leah and Patrick, worked together with me to incorporate the perfect theme for this birthday bash in the studio. I loved their idea to incorporate 20’s/Great Gatsby themed outfits and decorations into this session! The outfits were wonderful, with a pink onesie and a pink skirt reminding you of a timeless era, and a feathery headband with strings of pearls completed the look. The colors were bright and happy, to match Elodie’s beaming smile.

Cake Smash Sessions are some of my favorites, especially when I get to see how a newborn that I had the pleasure of meeting just a year ago has grown. Elodie’s parents were able to match the cake to her personality, as the cake in this kind of session is able to be customized and personalized to match the vision for the shoot. Before Elodie dug into her own gorgeous cake, we were able to capture some wonderful moments. If I had to pick, some of my favorites were her cute expressions as she sat calmly on our gray easy chair, waiting for a chance to get at her cake.

After a quick wardrobe change, Elodie was ready to dig in to her scrumptious cake, and she (and her parents!) loved every moment of it! Her pearls and her headband, combined with her frilly skirt, captured the atmosphere of the 20’s in a beautiful way, even if that wasn’t at the front of Elodie’s mind. She had no fear of the mess, and she started smashing away at the delectable in front of her. She was fascinated with the frosting, wiping it on her outfit and even painting the floor with it!

We were able to capture some wonderful forever moments to celebrate Elodie’s first year, and I’m sure that mom and dad will treasure these memories for years to come.

Growing Up So Fast | Greenwich Baby Milestone Photography

Our babies grow up soo fast! Ever since the day that we hold them in our arms for the first time, the clock seems to move faster and faster with each passing day. What seems like just yesterday was really six months ago, and our helpless little bundle of joy is starting to learn to crawl around on their own. Milestone after milestone is hit, and we may want to hit pause on life to keep them from growing up too quickly. If only we could! The next best thing, though, is freezing these moments in time, these big milestone moments that you want to remember every detail of.

This is exactly what Rebecca chose for her son Wesley! She wanted to capture these special times in her precious boy’s life to enjoy forever, so she chose one of my Baby’s First Year Packages, the Baby Milestone Session, which includes four sessions starting at 3 months, with the last session at their first birthday. Rebecca wanted to focus on capturing her son naturally, avoiding poses and too many props. This sort of session was perfect for that, as it’s built around showcasing the baby as they are in each stage: grabbing their toes, tummy time, sitting up, crawling, and standing, building up to their first birthday!

For Wes’ session, Rebecca loved the idea of white on white. At the 3-month shoot, she dressed her boy up in a white, short-sleeve onesie, and we kept the same theme going throughout all of the sessions. Wes’ handsome smile and gorgeous auburn hair were on full display as they stood out against the white backdrop, and I loved capturing his happy personality!

Mom said, “I’m hoping for all of the photos to focus on what he is doing naturally at the time of the photos, starting with tummy time or on his back reaching for his toes. I want to capture the way he interacts with the world naturally at each interval.” This was our focus for the whole year, and we started with Wes on his back in the first session, and when he came back 3 months later, he was already starting to crawl! On the white wood floor, we got some wonderful shots of Wes just exploring his surroundings, always with a smile.

At nine months, we included a small, neutral chair in the mix, as Wes was now pulling himself up. He was also very good at crawling, which made for a fun time in the studio! He always seemed fascinated with the camera, looking straight into the lens. You can tell that he already loves being in front of the camera! On his birthday 3 months later, we celebrated with our final session. With a gray balloon, fitting into our neutral theme, Wes stood tall, still smiling wide for us. The joy of getting to know this wonderful family and this beautiful little boy made for a great experience, both for me and for Rebecca. She now has a full year of milestones to look back on, even as Wes grows more and more.

If you want to capture these beautiful moments in your own life, contact me here to book your session today!

Enjoy!

Meeting a Need | Connecticut Newborn Photographer

If I had to pick something to do for the rest of my life, chances are it would be newborn photography. It’s the perfect blend of each of my greatest passions, from setting up a scene, to working out the best way to capture those tiny features, all the way to the time spent with the family and their precious new human. So when I got a call from a family whose photographer canceled last minute, I jumped at the chance to give them the session they deserved.

I was happy to fit them into the schedule, even though it was during the holiday crunch for family portraits and cards. They were so grateful to have a session for their lovely daughter, who had just been born. Because it was during the holiday season, we went ahead and created one set design for a joint birth announcement/holiday card, and they were so thrilled with how it turned out! For the newborn session, we wanted to go for a variety of scenes, as well as a holiday theme with Christmas colors.

I loved setting up the pink floral theme, which had the perfect color tones and textures to play off of her light skin tone, and I was even able to get a gorgeous shot of her precious little feet. We also went for a bit of a white space scene, with a pop of green on her headband, and a bit of lace around her to add a some texture. Then we got the whole family in the shot (besides their Pomeranian puppy!), and set up a lovely green backdrop full of Christmas lights for that whimsical feel. Mom and Dad looked so in love with their little bundle of joy, and their daughter looked wonderful.

It’s stories like this that make me love my job so much! I was thrilled to meet such a precious need for this lovely family, and it was a joy getting to know them. If you’re in need, don’t hesitate! Contact me here to set up your session today.

A Wonderful Story | Connecticut Baby Photographer

There’s a wonderful beauty seen when you can watch someone’s unique story unfold before your eyes. I’ve had the amazing joy of witnessing my beautiful friend and her gorgeous child grow together over time, from maternity now into her child’s first birthday. She has chosen to have me capture her daughter’s three milestones – 4, 8, and 12 months – as well as her maternity and newborn sessions. If you don’t remember my friend, here’s a bit of her back story: this close friend of mine is from White Plains, and works as a middle and high school math teacher, which means she’s brilliant – and brave! So brave, in fact, that she chose to have her child through in vitro fertilization, and it’s been one of the most wonderful decision she’s made. It has been a joy watching her change and grow in the best of ways, and it has been such a pleasure to capture every step.

Aside from the maternity and newborn sessions we’ve done together, we wanted to be sure to capture those big moments of her daughter’s life in a precious way. Across the sessions, we wanted to sprinkle in props to add even more to the cuteness level, with sequin bows and floral headbands. I love to surround a baby’s soft skin with soft furs and fabrics, and we played around with colors to create the perfect palette. My friend has such a creative mind, and she inspired a lot of scenes you’ll see in the photos below. We had a lot of fun with balloons, and with little lights in the background to give it a whimsical feel. Looking back through each of the portraits, it’s truly amazing to see the amount of growth that happens in such a short amount of time.

Because a child grows so fast, it makes it so important to capture those big milestones in their first year, and even before they enter the world! My lovely friend was intentional in doing this for her child, and now she has so many wonderful portraits to remember the times when her daughter was so tiny. Baby milestone sessions are the perfect way to remember those moments, and there are multiple packages to choose from! From all-inclusive sessions that go from the first month to the twelfth, or a first year package that covers the 4, 8, and 12 month milestones, like my friend chose, you have the option of choosing the best package for you!

Moments like these pictures below are so precious, and they deserve to be remembered forever. You can see more of the moments that I’ve captured in this Baby Milestone Session Gallery, to bet a better idea of what’s offered in the packages. My wonderful friend chose to tell her and her daughter’s story through these special moments, and I can do the same for you! Contact me here to get started, but be sure to look through the photos below first – they’ll make your day.

Enjoy!

Baby Milestone Sessions | CT Baby Photographer

Some of the most precious things on this planet are little humans. A close second are those who take care of these little ones; the joy that’s spread across their faces when they watch their babies “pose” for the camera is one of my favorite sights. That joy is what makes Baby Milestone Sessions so important to have, as it captures that joy and preserves it until long after the child becomes an adult. And as every parent knows, time passes so quickly, and before you know it your kiddo is all grown up. Capturing their milestones as they happen, starting from their first weeks, all the way to their first birthday will, in essence, stop the march of time. Every step along the way is a precious moment begging to be remembered by the whole family, and Baby Milestone Sessions allow you to do just that.

When choosing your Milestone Session, there are multiple packages to choose from, depending on which suits your needs best. If you’re looking for a few wonderful images of your child and some flexibility, then the Mini Session is perfect for you. The session is available for babies between 1 month and 12 months old, which means you can’t really be late to the game. There is also the Baby’s First Year Package, which comes in two styles, to highlight different milestones. The first style includes three 20-minute sessions, held at 4 months, 8 months, and 12 months. Each session, like the Mini Session, includes 4 professionally edited high-res photos of your little one in the studio, with the option for additional prints to be purchased.

For the second style of First Year Package, the focus is on the milestones your child hits at 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, and 12 months, which means you will get four sessions in the studio, and 4 images from each session. These studio sessions are fantastic, because you have the whole studio wardrobe and all the props available to you to choose from, to surround your baby in its own budding personality. And of course, there’s always the option to upgrade your 12 month session in a First Year plan to a Cake Smash Session, which is perfect for those who want to make their child’s first birthday a “smash!”

I love to get to know each family before the session, so each package includes a pre-session questionnaire and planning via phone or email. This allows me to know exactly who your child is, and how best to represent who they are in their session, as well as help you to be comfortable knowing that your baby is in good hands.

The beauty of your child deserves to be captured, and remembered throughout their whole lives. Those milestones, as precious and as monumental as they are, only last for a brief moment. Often we let these moments slip by unnoticed, but there is a way to stop the march of time.

Simply contact me and book your portraits – it’s the perfect time for a Baby Milestone Session.

Enjoy!

Precious moment with baby brother in an outdoor fall session with family of four with gorgeous yellow and orange fall colors for a posed family portrait
Children, Family

Celebrate Your Loved Ones Through Portrait Photography | Greenwich Connecticut Family Photographer

I strive to inspire my clients to celebrate their loved ones, their children, and their beauty through portrait photography. My dream for them is to have the images we create together become true heirlooms to cherish for generations to come.

Family is one of the most beautiful and wonderful things around. From the first “I do’s”, to the first child, all the way to sending your now-adult kids away to college, family is a journey worth capturing. I think everyone grasps the necessity for professional family photos, but when it comes to taking those pictures annually, it’s often met with excuses rather than excitement. Having professional photos taken requires some real work, and not just in deciding what to wear and where to have the session – they can be an investment as well. But they’re an investment worth making, and here are three reasons why you should have a session every year, and especially now in the fall!

The passage of time – It is in the nature of time to grow us, and it’s important to capture this each year, especially so for young families. Kids grow so quickly, like the colors of fall leaves, and having annual portraits taken will not only be a beautiful way to track their growth, but will also act as a visual journal of the memories of each year. This is important for your children, but also for yourselves as the parents of a rapidly growing family. In a family session, you’ll be able to get in the picture with everybody else, free from worry about any of the details that go into getting the perfect picture. Flow with the constant stream of change, and capture your family along the way.

The milestones you meet – Like the passage of time, the growth of your family means they will meet milestones along the way. Whether it’s the ability to sit up, the first birthday, the first day of school, a high school graduation, or anything in between, it’s important to capture these times in the life of your family. There’s something new each year, and after each one passes you’ll be able to look fondly at your family portraits, and remember the wonderful moments of the year. Photographs are the perfect way to keep a memory alive, and the more that you capture, the more that you can cherish.

The memories you make – The only things in life that truly become more valuable over time are your memories. Life is constantly moving forward, but it is a blessing to look back over all of the wonderful times you’ve lived through, especially as a family. The beauty of a family photo session is that you get to make it how you want it to be, and capture your own unique and beautiful memories to treasure. Maybe you have a favorite family spot where the autumn colors are perfect, and you want to have a picnic-themed session there, or maybe the whole family loves the way the city looks in the fall – no matter what it is, make it special to your own family. If you center your portraits on who your family is rather than making sure everybody is smiling, you’ll get so much more out of them, and make precious memories at the same time.

Those are just three reasons for having annual family portraits taken, and I’m sure you can think of a few more. The preparation and the work that goes into your session is so worth it, because your family is worth the effort. Mark the passage of time, memorialize the milestones along the way, and capture each beautiful memory. You won’t want to miss them! So contact me and book your portraits – it’s the perfect time for a fall family session.

Enjoy!

Expecting mom and dad relaxing in the grass with beautiful yellow fall colors for outdoor posed maternity session
Maternity

A Wonderful Wish | Connecticut Maternity Photographer

Parenthood is a wonderful thing. I love to witness the budding joy in the hearts of a new mom and dad, especially when their little one has yet to see the big and beautiful world they’re going to grow up in. This lovely couple has this same joy growing inside of them, and you can see it in their gorgeous smiles. They were originally from Michigan and Maryland, but have since moved to Darien in September of 2015. Mom says, “My husband and I will be celebrating our sixth wedding anniversary this year. We met in the library at law school way back when, and we’ve never looked back.” I love hearing a good love story, and capturing just a little bit of theirs in this maternity session was a true joy of mine.

We started off our session by sending mom to Maria Livesay Salon to get her all done up, which was convenient for us because it’s only five minutes from the studio. I offer this add on service for every session, and it was a wonderful perk to this mother-to-be! From there, we headed out to one of the prettiest areas around, where the all the colorful wonders of fall were on full display. Not to be outdone, this gorgeous couple stole back the show with their overflow of joy. Mom says, “A perfect day for us is one spent entirely outdoors – we love to play tennis, be on the water, and are avid hikers who enjoy discovering all that New England has to offer. My husband works in Greenwich (I work in the city), so this will be convenient for the newborn session!”

We wanted to get some shots with both of them of course, but made sure to get some solo shots of mom and her growing child. They brought along a wonderful book, called ‘Wish’. It’s a cute story; here’s the synopsis: “As an elephant couple embark on a life together, thoughts of children are far away-at first. But as the desire for a child grows, so do unexpected challenges. And it’s only after thwarted plans and bitter disappointment that their deepest wish miraculously comes true.” It’s a wonderful wish, and it’s been this couple’s wish for a while, too. They’re thrilled to become parents, and you can see it written all over their faces.

Enjoy!

Joyful Gatherings, and The Heart of Fall | New Limited Edition Festive Theme

There is a special beauty to fall and the winter holidays. You can see it in the wonderful colors appearing on the trees, the brisker air in the mornings, and the pumpkin-everything all around us. It’s hard to pin the wonders of the season down, and bottle up its essence, until you strip away everything but its core – its central beauty. We did just that with our new theme, Joyful Gatherings.

This season’s Joyful Gatherings theme has a heart of gold. Think deep, warm, and burnished golds, with creamy whites and rich browns. In the same way that you bundle up to face the ever-colder weather, this theme wraps you and your family in layers of warm colors, with a dash of festive sparkle.

It all starts in the studio, which will be all set up and ready to capture the soul of both you and your family. As parents, we know that capturing beautiful images of your family is hard, and often you’re lucky if you just get one photo where everybody is smiling. In our studio, we work hard to make sure that you not only get pictures with everybody sporting their smile, but pictures that you’ll love to show off as well. We have a passion for this, and in each of our themes, we make it so that the only thing you have to do is show up, and enjoy the process.

In this festive theme, you’ll have a 20-minute session at our studio in Greenwich, which has been decorated with the heart of this joyous season. You have a lot of session options available to you in this session, so you can personalize it according to what you love, and who you are. Joyful Gatherings is the perfect thing for your holiday cards, holiday gifts, newborn sessions, keepsake albums, cake smash sessions, and even makes for unique baby announcements. No matter where you’re at in life, we’ll meet you there, ready to capture it for you to keep with you forever.

You’ll have full access to the studio props and wardrobe, making for a simple and easy session. After the session, you’ll choose from 8+ professionally edited photos, and take home 4 high res digital images – and of course, there’s always the option to purchase additional images and products. That’s a good thing, because you’ll want to display these pictures all over your house, and even make them a festive centerpiece.

The exclusive Joyful Gatherings theme is only available from now until December 9th, but you still have plenty of time to book your session. Contact us for all the details, pricing, and open dates for booking.

We can’t wait to hear from you, and capture your beautiful family surrounded by one of our favorite themes yet. Come and get festive with us, and book your session today!

Enjoy!

Many Blessings | Connecticut Newborn Photographer

With time comes some of the most wonderful blessings. If you’ve been following the blog for a little while, you’ll remember my lovely friend’s maternity session, and her amazing story. Since then, she’s given birth, and her child is every bit as beautiful as we expected, and more so. The many blessings that my gorgeous friend has experienced during the pregnancy pale in comparison to the best blessing of all, that she now holds in her arms.

For this newborn session, we wanted to focus on a few different scenes, and include everybody in the shoot – even our furry friend! One of the scenes surrounded her gorgeous newborn in soft furs, a pink blanket, and a cute pearled headband to match. I accented with a flower and some textured grays, to round out the palette. I loved capturing the budding personality of this lovely new person, and I especially love the picture we got of those tiny little toes! We also got some photos of this precious little human against a lightly textured, white backdrop, so we could cut out the background and focus on the wonderful beauty of a newborn fast asleep. We brought out the driftwood basket again, and the contrast of using nature to hold a new life was one that I loved to use. But, the most precious photos were of mom and her child together.

It has been amazing to witness this wonderful friend of mine in her motherhood journey. She’s incredibly inspiring, and she teaches me so many things about life and what it means to be a mother. The love that she’s shown towards her child even while she still carried her inside was a beautiful thing to see, and it’s only ever grown since. I love how creative we get together, planning out our sessions and brainstorming the color schemes. I always jump at the chance to work with her artsy mind, and it truly was a blessing to capture this special time with her and her newborn. I can’t wait until the next session we have together!

Enjoy!

Exclusive Cake Smash Sessions | Greenwich, CT Photographer

There are very few things as precious as your baby. As I’m sure you well know by now, their first months go by so quickly, so much so that the thought of getting professional pictures taken was stuck at the back of your mind. Now that they’re nearing the one-year milestone, it’s time to celebrate their birthday with a smash, in their very own Cake Smash Session!

Looking Up Photography’s exclusive Cake Smash Sessions are centered on your gorgeous almost-one-year-old baby, and captures all the smiles, giggles, and joy your child experiences as they ‘smash’ their own special cake. The cake is personalized by you and your baby as you pick out the  frosting color, and theme for embellishments (allergy waiver required). I love the themes that parents in the past have picked out, from dapper bowties and mustaches all the way to cowboy-boot headbands and frilly skirts. They’ve all had such great taste, and in your own cake smash session, you’ll have a lot of freedom to showcase your own baby’s budding personality!

Before the big celebration, we’ll have a pre-session questionnaire via phone or email, so we can get a good sense of who your family is, to create the best session for you. Once you book your session, you’ll meet us in the studio with your precious little one, ready to dig in and get into the cutest mess – a mess that you don’t have to clean up! It’s the best of both worlds, where you can watch your baby have oodles of fun smashing up a giant cupcake, without any responsibility for the aftermath. As you can see from the pictures below, there’s a wide range of props available, where you’ll get to choose your favorites for your own unique theme. We’ll have up to a 60-minute session at our studio in Greenwich, CT, and we’ll pack every minute with fun and joy!

After we’ve captured all of the wonderful moments of your baby’s birthday bash, the photos will be professionally edited, and we’ll narrow it down to the best digital, high-res images, and set up an 11×14 print as well. Of course, there’s always the option to purchase additional prints and print products from your Cake Smash Session, because we guarantee that you won’t be able to get enough of this session!

Each Cake Smash Session is all inclusive. If you’ve purchased a package already and can’t live without seeing your baby in this unique session, then you can easily upgrade your Mini or Milestone Sessions to a Cake Smash Session! It’s the perfect option for your priceless child.

Enjoy!

The Beauty of Motherhood | Maternity Photographer in Connecticut

There’s an infectious joy that a new mother has, and it’s a beautiful thing to witness. This maternity session with my close friend was a joyful and wonderful time, and I’m so glad we were able to capture her happiness in her session! We both have a passion for creativity and love to put our minds together to come up with artsy ideas, which was perfect for this session. We experimented with different fabrics and flower accents, focusing on a soft palette to highlight her warm skin tones and timeless beauty. I arranged for her to get her hair and makeup done at Maria Livesay Salon, which is conveniently located only five minutes from the studio. It’s a service I offer to each of my clients, and it was a wonderful perk to this session!

My lovely friend hails from White Plains, and works as a middle and high school math teacher. She’s an incredibly strong woman, and a single mother, having her child through in vitro fertilization. I’m inspired by her courage everyday, and I have loved seeing her change into someone even more joyful and wonderful throughout her pregnancy. She’s always wanted to be a mother, and is so thrilled for what’s to come! She has a large and loving family near and far who are so excited for her, and can’t wait to meet her precious little one. My gorgeous friend sings beautifully and also plays the piano; I’m sure her little one will never tire of hearing an angel sing her lullabies.

The beauty of motherhood is one of my favorite things to capture. It was a joy to do that for this amazing momma, and I love how the pictures came out! I jumped at the chance to have a session with her, and we had such fun playing around with the colors and textures of the fabrics. It surrounded her with a soft atmosphere, perfectly complimenting her warm personality. She’s a wonderful friend to me, an incredible teacher to so many students, and most importantly, an amazing mother to her child. There’s no better example of a strong, confident, and loving woman!

The Bloom of New Life | Connecticut Newborn Photography

There’s a unique beauty in new life. In this session, that beauty was this gorgeous newborn and her loving parents, and the special bond that they have with each other. We had such a wonderful time in this creative newborn session, and I enjoyed getting to know the parents. Mom said, “My husband and I have been together for 9 years, married for 1, and happily expecting our first child together. We recently moved to Greenwich from Westchester, and have spent a lot of time designing our space.” She describes why this has been great for them: “It’s made us work hard together as we make big decisions, and in a sense, it’s been preparing us for parenthood and all the future stresses and choices we’ll be making together. It’s a growing experience, and one that I’m grateful that we get to share!”

I share Mom and Dad’s love for design, and wanted to showcase that creativity in their session. We settled on a set design that focused on vivid pops of color, with natural flowers and leafy props to go with their newborn’s blooming beauty. I loved swaddling baby girl in these soft and subtle fabrics, surrounded by the cuddly textures of the fur. There’s nothing softer than a newborn’s skin, though, and you can see how precious it is just by looking at her tiny toes. We also wanted to capture their little one without any distraction, with a simple white backdrop in my studio. Baby’s personality really popped with the minimal set, and the little bit of pink in the headband was the perfect accent.

No one was happier in this session than Mom and Dad, and it was truly special to see such a deep love for their newborn in their gaze. It was a joy to capture the whole family in this session. While you can never be totally prepared for a child, they are ready for all the stresses and joys of being a new parent. It’s exciting to see the love that they have for each other, and it’s wonderful to know that it will only continue blooming into something more beautiful as they grow together.

Enjoy!

Family Values | Darien, CT Newborn Photographer

Family is one of the most important things in life, and so are the values that we hold dear. This wonderful family from Darien, CT knows this well, and can’t wait to teach their firstborn son all about it! Their little one was so peaceful in his newborn session, napping almost the whole way through. We chose muted tones for our color palette, sticking with grays, whites, dark blue and pops of orange in most of our scenes. I love the monochrome of the gray in one of the scenes, complete with a tiny knit stocking cap to keep his little head cozy. I never tire of being amazed at just how small and cute newborns are, and they get even more precious to me after each session.

The family moved to Connecticut from New York City: “We just moved to Darien a few weeks ago, having lived in NYC since we graduated college.” She said, “We’ve been together for almost six years now, and we’re so excited to welcome our beautiful son to our family!” It was wonderful to have the whole family in the studio, and we got some gorgeous photos of all three of them together, bursting with love for each other. They’re a beautiful family, and you can see just from the pictures alone how strong their bond is. They said, “We were both raised to value family above all else, and look forward to raising our son the same way.” You can see the dedication that they have to each other; their son is in the best of hands.

I had a lot of fun playing around with color in this newborn session, and I love how much the orange added to each scene. In one scene, I included a variety of textures and patterns, with fur, knit and stripes all coming together to make for a cohesive and interesting picture. My favorites, though, have to be the portraits with mom and dad, alone with their new baby. The passion that they have for their son, and the drive that they have to grow him into someone who values the most important things in life was inspiring. It was a joy to spend time with them.

Enjoy!

Sleepy summer beach baby girl nestled in soft whites and cool blue hydrangeas and shells for Connecticut newborn session baby portrait
Baby, Newborn

Connecticut WaterScape summer baby portrait sessions celebrate your beach baby’s unique personality, as they’re surrounded by cool blues and soft whites!

If you’re a parent, then you know how hard it can be to get good photos of your family. It’s an even greater task getting everyone to smile and look at the camera, and getting yourself in there with them? Nearly impossible.

I get the challenge! I’ve always had a passion for getting the perfect picture, so I understand what goes into making that happen. I’ve dedicated my career to taking that burden off of your shoulders, providing families with lasting treasures that capture not only what you look like, but who you really are.

In modern life where everything whizzes by, it’s important to have your most special moments preserved, forever kept safe from the march of time. There’s an art to this, and that’s the way I approach every photo shoot, and especially so in our exclusives like this summer’s WaterScape sessions.

Designed and created by renowned artist and photographer Heidi Hope, the WaterScape vignette is made up of colors that evoke fluffy clouds lazily floating in the deep blue summer sky, and the scene captures the joyful feeling that comes from a soft breeze on a sun-kissed summer day. It’s filled with an ethereal blue, and features a monochromatic palette with multiple poses and props included to make for a stress-free and beautiful experience for you and your beach baby!

The session options include standard and mini newborn sessions, baby milestone, and cake smash sessions, so you have a variety to choose from to feature your little one. The session is perfect if you love a beach or nautical theme, or if you simply want some fine artwork for the nursery, to give it a tranquil and serene atmosphere. In every session, we make it easy and fun, taking care of every precious detail so all you have to do is show up, enjoy the experience, and treasure the results.

The WaterScape session will capture the new addition to your family in a way that you’ll love to remember for years to come. Bubbling Excitement | Greenwich Newborn Photographer

There is a certain kind of joy that you never see anywhere else: the joy that comes from meeting your child for the first time. The excitement that new parents have for their newborn produces such an amazing joy in them that both Mom and Dad just can’t stop smiling, and it was such a wonderful thing to see in this newborn session! The couple moved into Greenwich recently after living in the city for a decade, and they’re loving the transition. Of course, that wasn’t the only big change in their lives, and definitely not their favorite of the two. Their new little one is adorable, and I loved capturing their first child in her first few days. This session was such a special one, with both Mom and Dad in on the fun. I was able to capture some truly beautiful moments between them and their precious newborn, with one of my favorites being where they gazed into each other’s eyes as they held their new baby; they had the unmistakable look of a couple smitten with a deep love for each other. Those small moments can slip by so quickly, but they’re filled with some of the deepest love you can witness and it’s an honor to see it firsthand!

We filled the session with a variety of poses and scenes, and included some portraits of Dad and Mom holding their little girl. In one scene, I kept the colors neutral to highlight their newborn’s gorgeous skin tone, and played off of it with a textured pink blanket, and added a little white accent flower to pull it all together. While this is a newborn session, at its heart it’s really about the whole family, so we included some pictures of the trio all together. I always try to capture babies as they are, creating a scene around them to make for a unique picture centered on them. No baby ever arrives with perfect skin, and I love to showcase their ‘imperfections’ in their session. It adds another layer of beauty to an already gorgeous child, and this session is a great example of this!

All in all, it was such a wonderful experience capturing a precious family’s beloved newborn, especially her tiny grin. Everyone was all smiles throughout the whole newborn session, and I loved getting to know this passionate trio! They have an excitement about them that lingered long after they had left the studio, and they left with each beautiful memory captured in their session, to have with them forever.

– Enjoy!

There’s Comfort in Family | Greenwich, CT Newborn Photographer

A family is a powerful thing. There’s a bond between them that gives comfort and security, warming the heart when it gets cold. This handsome newborn’s family has this bond, and it was a wonderful thing to witness! Their beautiful baby boy was a dream, and I loved capturing his new and unique personality. Mom and Dad both work together in production for commercials, with film and animation. They’re a creative duo that loves the closeness that comes from doing business together. They’ve been waiting for some time for this baby boy, he being their first child, and were filled with excitement for their first newborn session!

Mom and Dad’s journey to Connecticut involved a few states: “My husband was originally from Colorado”, Mom said, “but we met in my birth area, New York City, where we worked. While we were living together, we started in NYC, then moved to Colorado, then back to the Big Apple, and finally to where I grew up, the lovely state of Connecticut. Our house is on the water in Stamford, and we love living on the beach!” Sounds like they’ve really found their home now, and with their newborn, they couldn’t be happier. For their little guy’s session, we wanted to compliment his handsome skin tone with a soft taupe, and add a textured backdrop with the dark wood. The white, flurry of fur was the perfect pairing to go with his tender skin, and we tied the palette off with him resting on blue knits and a driftwood basket. I loved the masculine, yet softer tones in this session, and I adored catching his tired yawns. Those are cute moments that slip by so quickly, and they’re what make a newborn session so valuable.

Mom shared a bit about what family means to them: “We both lost our mothers this last year”, said Mom, “so this family unit – my husband, baby, dog and I – is our world! We absolutely love family time.” Time can go by so fast, and at the end of our lives, the things that will matter most to us is family, and the memories we made with them. A newborn session is the start of capturing a family’s history, and creating a lasting legacy that will extend generations into the future. This lovely family in the session knows this deeply, and have waited so long for this amazing experience of new life, knitting their family even closer together.

❤  – Enjoy!

My Story (Greenwich Family Photographer)

I take pictures to inspire clients to see themselves as beautiful and loved, and to honor and cherish their children.

I take pictures to capture precious moments in life and preserve them for the future. I believe in saving family heirlooms and memories to help build a family’s history, and to provide keepsakes that my clients can look at years later and experience the love and joy all over again.

I’m motivated by the connection between loved ones, and the inspiration and hope that flows out of new life and new families.

I specialize in maternity and newborn photography because I’m heartened by the vulnerability, honesty, tenderness, and strength in expectant mothers and babies at this pivotal moment in time. It’s an honor to be trusted to participate in this amazing moment, and to capture these qualities that are exposed during my portrait sessions. New life is new inspiration!!

I strive to motivate my clients to celebrate their loved ones, their children, and their beauty through portrait photography. My dream for them is to have the images we create together become true heirlooms to cherish for generations to come.

I want my clients to feel our session together was special, because capturing this precious moment in time is a wonderful choice to make for them and their children. I want my clients to feel I brought out the love and connection they have with one another.

I give my all to every client session. I give kindness, patience, a warm and friendly atmosphere, an open heart and an open mind. And, of course, my vision and talent. I believe doing business with this approach is key to creating moments and images that will truly matter to my clients

My mission is to amplify positivity for my clients. I use my talent to inspire people to remember that children are a gift, they are beautiful, they are our future, and they are the heart of all families. To me there are no exceptions to this, and through my artistic process with my clients I reinforce this idea of universal beauty and the central importance of love.

Precious Bond (Stamford Newborn Photographer)

I love to see a strong family bond. This gorgeous family from Stamford has a beautiful bond, and you can truly see the depth of love they have for their new little girl captured in the photos. A new addition to the family always increases that togetherness, and now with their second child, mom and dad were spilling over with joy in their newborn session! The colors were some of my favorites, from bright pops of blue to the lighter tones that fit so well with the soft pink of her skin. That same softness was showcased in the scene with the pastel furs, and I matched the palette to her gorgeous skin tone.

The color palette, to me, is one of the most important elements in a session. It slips under the radar often, but when it does you know that you’ve done it right. The palette is what holds a scene together, and highlights the baby’s inherent beauty, so I try to keep the colors neutral to draw the attention in the photo to the newborn. In this session, I used some subtle pops of color, along with the flowers or the lace to add texture, and the bold headband for the lighter backdrops. My favorite shots from the session, though, were the ones with mom and dad cradling their precious little one.

It’s truly a joy of mine to see the incredible love between parents and their children, and it’s my passion to capture it so that each family can display that love in their home, to have with them always. With this lovely family, the bond that they share is on full display, and they can look back fondly on these moments, remembering when their little girl was still so new and small. Soon enough, it’ll be hard to believe that the time has gone by so quickly, and their photos will only become more precious to them as their children grow.

If you’re thinking about having a newborn session, please reach out and contact me with any questions you may have. Booking your session with me will ensure that you’re capturing each fleeting moment in the first weeks of your baby’s life, and preserve the precious bond between you and your child.
  – Enjoy!

Three Sweet Sisters! (Greenwich CT Newborn Photographer)

Whether you are a family who is welcoming their first baby, or the seventh, I believe it is cause for celebration! I photograph small families, big families, and blended families, and everything in me wants to cheer them all on. I sure love children, and feel honored to be able to photograph all of them. I also love the special privilege that occurs when families allow me into their sacred space as they raise their children, and shepherd their little broods. This sweet family is one of my favorites: this was their third beautiful girl, and with two big sisters, she’s in great hands. Not only was she such a calm and adorable baby, the older sisters were loving and caring, and we had so much fun.

For this shoot, we stuck with a very elegant, neutral palette. It’s one of my favorite looks, because it always looks beautiful and highlights the true stars of the show: baby and family. I even managed to coax a little smile from this baby girl, and enjoyed selecting little lace wraps and headbands to accent her full head of hair! I am sure this lovely group will enjoy raising three girls, and will savor every moment. I hope these images will be displayed in their home and cherished for years to come.

If you are looking for a newborn photographer in the Greenwich, CT area, I’d love to share what sets my brand apart. The Thinker (Ridgefield Newborn Photographer)

It’s clear from this newborn’s contemplative expression that he’ll have a lot to say to the world some day. In the meantime, those adorable squishy chubby cheeks are worth a thousand words. His big sister visited my studio too, but was too shy for the camera that day. Mom and Dad gave me some gorgeous moments to capture though! How comfy does he look in his thinking cap? Such a sweetie! ❤  – Enjoy! The Thinker (Ridgefield Newborn Photographer)The Thinker (Ridgefield Newborn Photographer)The Thinker (Ridgefield Newborn Photographer)The Thinker (Ridgefield Newborn Photographer)The Thinker (Ridgefield Newborn Photographer)The Thinker (Ridgefield Newborn Photographer)The Thinker (Ridgefield Newborn Photographer)The Thinker (Ridgefield Newborn Photographer)The Thinker (Ridgefield Newborn Photographer)

This Duo Became a Trio (Stamford Newborn Photography)

As I photographed this sweet newborn, I couldn’t help but think about all of the music she’ll hear in her life. Dad and Musician Mom were thrilled to welcome her to the world in January. I was thrilled to welcome them to my studio, where the soft glow captured her toes that will dance and little fingers that might some day play the piano. ❤  So happy for you Family D!! What a lovely session. – Enjoy!
