Finally Complete |Connecticut Newborn Photographer

The beauty of a loving family is a sight to behold. This wonderful family was full of joy during the session, and I loved crafting their gorgeous newborn’s first photography session with them.

Parents Ken and Cynthia chose a lovely palette of pinks, purples, light blues, and creams for their newborn Remi’s pictures, and it couldn’t have suited her better. They loved the baskets and lace wraps that I’ve used for other newborn sessions in the past, and they wanted to do the same for theirs. Throughout this newborn session, you’ll notice that Remi often looks as if she’s floating around on the fluffiest cloud. This was our goal, as Mom explains, “Remi’s middle name is Mia, and the Japanese character we use for it is “beautiful sky”.” Cynthia had the idea of using props from my studio to mimic clouds and wings, to match Remi’s lovely name. So we did just that!

For one scene, we wrapped Remi up in a tiny purple blanket, and complimented it with a wisp of magenta to surround her and help her pop against the fluffy white background.  In another scene, we gently laid her on top of a puff of light blue inside a wicker basket, and used a wrap of lace to give it more texture. We posed her in a couple different ways, but my favorite was laying her on her tummy and placing a bit of the white fluff from the backdrop on her back. This little angel has wings!

Remi has two older siblings: brother Dylan and sister Chloe. They were so fun and full of life during the session, and we got some wonderful shots of them posing with Remi. They have the cutest smiles, and the best outfits! We even got a fun sibling shot with just the two of them, capturing their budding personalities. Among the things that their parents love the most about raising them, watching their kids grow into their personalities and explore their curiosities.

Last, but certainly not least, are the parent shots. I especially love these because you can always see a profound love in the eyes of mom and dad as they look upon their precious little one. You can definitely see that in Ken and Cynthia, especially in the picture where they are both holding Remi. There’s something extra special about that one, and I’m so glad I was able to capture this moment for them. When I asked them why they wanted to have their portraits done at this point in their lives, they said, “Now that we’ve had Remi, our family is complete.” It was a truly a joy to capture their complete family in this newborn session!

A newborn session is about freezing moments in time, before your little one grows up.

If you’d like to see your newborn floating on the clouds, or laid on the softest blankets with colors that you chose, or gently lying in your loving arms, then please contact me here, and we’ll get your session set up today!

Enjoy!

Love at First Sight | Scarsdale NY Newborn Photographer

‘The moment that changed me for ever was the moment my first child
was born. I was happy, filled with hope, and thought, ‘Now I understand the whole point of
work, of life, of love.’ -Paul Theroux

What an extraordinary privilege to photograph that first-born baby. Although every baby is a miracle and a blessing, there is a magical anticipation for first-time parents as they welcome their little one. This beautiful family hails from Scarsdale, New York, and they’ve recently celebrated the arrival of their son. Bill and Michele first met four years ago, and they’ve been inseparable ever since. They’ve been parents to their “fur baby” (dog Jake), which has prepared them well for the love and care they are now giving to their firstborn son! They wanted to make sure Jake was included in this session, and I was more than happy to oblige in my Greenwich studio. The newly minted quartet enjoys spending time together, and cites honesty, loyalty, and support as their family values.

The nursery setup was something the family was very excited to do, and they ended up choosing pretty shades of blue, gray and white for the furniture and paint. I worked to create coordinating images that will look beautiful hung throughout the home and nursery, and also to meet their requests for both candid and posed portraits of all of them together. The proud parents plan to display these as wall prints, online photos, and on their birth announcements for family and friends. “We chose Looking Up Photography because we wanted to get cute pics of the baby, and of our growing family that we can always cherish”, adds mom, “We were so excited to have our first baby, and for his very first photoshoot”. I couldn’t believe how calm and well-rested they all looked; parenthood looks amazing on these two (now four). I can’t wait to watch their adorable baby grow up, and hopefully to cross paths with them again soon.

If you are looking for polished and professional newborn photos that also capture the candid moments of your family, we would love to welcome you into our beautiful, relaxing studio. Please contact me here, so we can get your preferred date on our calendar.

Enjoy!

Hope and Beauty | Connecticut Newborn Photography

Every now and again, there are sessions that truly move my heart and leave an impression forever. While every client is special to me, and I always feel honored to capture their memories, some have endured circumstances that make their portraits particularly meaningful to me. This beautiful family is one of those clients. They recently welcomed their brand new baby boy, who is absolutely precious. Tara and Jonathan are a loving and sweet couple, and I enjoyed getting to know them and hearing their story. The pair hails from Norwalk, and after a brief move, they returned to CT for a new beginning after a loss to their family. They shared with me that they lost their sweet daughter unexpectedly, and that is why there is a special bear in some of the images of their son; it’s in honor of that very loved sister. The organization is called Molly Bears, and is doing some powerful work of healing and hope for families who have endured the loss of a child. What a special tribute.

Their beautiful son is a miracle and so incredibly special for many reasons! It was so touching to get to witness this family’s deep bond and unbreakable hope. Their baby boy arrived in February, much to the delight of his family. They spent many hours decorating his beautifully curated nursery in hues of navy, gray, and white, and were eager to add these to their decor with a canvas or two. The pair requested classic and simple portraits that would accent their home, which is styled in relaxing colors and tones. Tara explained they are “homebodies” who love their space and the memories they have shared there. “We wanted to do newborn photos to have for a lifetime”, she explained, “We chose Looking Up Photography because of the style, and because we wanted someone who could capture the little details”.

It’s those newborn moments that go by so incredibly fast, and the reason why I absolutely love documenting them. Please contact me here to schedule an appointment with our Greenwich  studio.

Enjoy!

Timeless Family Moments | Connecticut Newborn Photographer

Every great love story has a beginning. This family got its sweet start about a decade ago, when dad and mom met through mutual friends. Now they have two beautiful children and a family legacy. When they welcomed their newest son, they knew it would be the perfect opportunity to update their family photos. They requested a mix of posed and candid images, and I enjoyed sharing genuine moments with them, filled with laughter and plenty of smiles over their very busy two-year-old. Speaking of big brother, he is nothing but a delight! He enjoys playing with trucks, jumping and bouncing, and playing ring-around-the-rosy, and he’s acclimated well to his adorable new sibling. Mom shared that he is very active and loving, and also quite social. He wasn’t shy when it came to taking photos, and enjoyed the spotlight very much (that always makes my job easier!).

Classic and timeless were the words mom and dad used when describing their personal taste, and so I modeled their session to suit their decor and the types of images they wanted. They plan on incorporating the images on some special wall spaces in their home, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with. When it comes to spending time as a family, these four enjoy visiting grandparents, and heading to the beach, where their little one can chase the gulls. Their family is shaped around love and honesty, and they are genuine, warm and caring people. “We were just so excited to be growing our family”, adds mom, “We wanted to capture our kids during such a special and fleeting time. We hadn’t done these images before, so we followed your lead, and ended up with great shots of the four of us, and the baby, of course. When we set out to find the right person, we looked for someone professional, and caring with a lot of experience with newborn photography!”

I always try to capture the tiny details in my newborn sessions, and I sure fell head over heels with the little toes and lips below! What a sweet family. If you are interested in booking a session in our studio, please contact me here!

Sibling Love | Child Photography in Greenwich

The sibling bond is such a precious thing. No matter where life takes you, you always have the love of your brother or sister to carry you through tough circumstances and to celebrate life’s joys. That’s the bond that I was privileged to photograph when this wonderful trio came into my studio with their loving parents. They are a tight-knit family of five in Riverside, and very much in love with this sweet new addition. Mom and dad first met in New York City about thirteen years ago, and now they have three beautiful children to celebrate. Their family values “kindness, respect and honesty”, and I can certainly see how they exemplify these in their everyday lives. They are patient and caring parents, who never overlook an opportunity to let their children know how loved they are.

For this classic and elegant newborn session, I designed the set with pretty neutral tones and soft hues that coordinated with the family’s home decor. The big brother and sister are two and five years old, and they were so helpful and sweet to their brand-new sister. They wanted to help hold her and comfort her, and baby was very obliging. Her full head of hair was just adorable, and mom in particular was relieved that all three children were so happy to be in front of the lens. I felt privileged to be a part of this new season in their lives, and to watch a family fall into their new roles.

Some moms worry that their children won’t cooperate during the session. My friendly advice to all my clients is to “let it go”… and let me take the wheel! I create an atmosphere in my Greenwich studio that is welcoming and cheery, so that children feel at ease. I connect with them on their level before the session begins, and make sure there’s music and fun so that their personalities shine. I love children, and have endless patience for them. No matter how wiggly you may anticipate they will be, I will love every moment! To book, please contact me here!

Enjoy!

Front and Center | Greenwich Maternity & Newborn Photography

Not all photographers have the pleasure of following the journey a woman takes through motherhood, but I had the wonderful privilege of capturing a part of Armida’s journey. She and her husband Erik chose one of my Belly to Baby Packages, which includes a maternity session and a newborn session. We had a wonderful time in both sessions, and I’m so excited to finally share their portraits!

For the maternity session, we wanted to go for a contemporary style, with the focus on Mom’s precious baby bump. She wore a lovely white tulle dress, matched with a bright white backdrop. I loved playing with the soft light for this session. Armida gave me creative freedom in both sessions, and it was fun bringing her vision to life. She and Erik looked just gorgeous together, and in each of the pictures made a point of highlighting the precious little girl growing inside. Their little one is front and center, and that carried forward to their newborn session, when little Catalina was born!

We wanted to focus on a natural feel to the newborn session, with a creamy pink and peach palette. We set beautiful Catalina on a bed of furs, and gently added textures in around her to complete the scene. I was able to get a lovely shot of her adorable squishable face against the white fabrics, which made the little floral accessories pop out all the more. She looked so cute lying in the soft wicker basket, with only a bolt of lace draped over her. Erik and Armida wore simple, darker outfits to ensure that Catalina was front and center, but the whole scene was what was most precious. The three together, bound together in love and with the most joyful smiles on their faces, made the session one to remember! It was a privilege to capture a part of their lives together in my Greenwich studio.

No matter if you’re just beginning your journey through motherhood, or if you’re about to welcome your little one into the world, be sure to capture these special memories in a portrait session. These unforgettable moments stay with you forever when preserved in  heirloom keepsake photographs! Contact me here to book your session today!!

Simple and Soft | Connecticut Newborn Photography

When I first met little baby Cameron and his lovely parents, I knew this was going to be a wonderful session! Parents Stephanie and Richardson were bubbling over with excitement during their newborn session, and I was so happy to have the opportunity to capture that feeling in their photos. Before their session, however, we had to decide what colors and style we wanted to use. I love to build sessions around a couple’s vision, and Stephanie and Richardson knew exactly what they wanted. They love a clean, classic look, and chose a white, gray, and mint palette. I set it all up in the studio, and I think it looked better than we could have imagined!

Mom and Dad wanted to focus on candid shots with natural expressions and interactions. I did some light posing, but allowed plenty of room for baby Cameron to do his own thing, and it made for some beautiful pictures. Stephanie envisioned wrapping her precious one in soft blankets and colors, so we laid down some furs and swaddled him in a soft, mint blanket, which wonderfully complimented his gorgeous skin tone. Of course, we got a shot of his scrumptious little feet, and some close-ups to highlight his handsome features. Then we posed Cameron on a simple white fur, still swaddled in the mint green blanket, and I just couldn’t get enough of it!

For the shots with the whole family, we wanted to focus on natural light and soft colors. They were all smiles, and their joy filled up the whole room! I love the pictures where they couldn’t keep their eyes off of their new little family member. Cameron is their first child, and they were over the moon! We wanted to take care to capture these special moments, because they’re gone in a flash. Newborn sessions are especially important because those cute and tiny humans grow up so quickly! A photo session allows you to freeze those moments in time to enjoy them forever. It’s almost as if you had the power to slow the passage of time, even if just for a moment. If you’re expecting a little one soon, be sure to contact me here!

Enjoy!

Colorful Comfort | Stamford Newborn Photographer

Newborn sessions are my passion. So when this wonderful family from Stamford, CT got a hold of me to book their session, I was very excited to capture their special joy in my Greenwich, CT studio! Talking with parents Sandy and Julio made it clear how much they loved their new daughter, and how much they loved color. We made sure to surround their precious little one with a beautiful palette in her session.

Their newborn, Dahlia, was born into a joyful and loving family, and has three older siblings: Sofia, Arianna, and Aurelie. We got the whole family in the pictures, and I loved how they all looked together. The center of the show, of course, was little Dahlia, and she was a shining star! We focused on a palette of muted and darker tones, with pops of color to highlight her precious features. We surrounded her with the softest furs, and a bit of lace for some texture, and swaddled her in a warm, pink blanket to complete the setting. It was a scene centered on colorful comfort. Her tiny toes were begging to be captured, and I made sure to get every crease and wrinkle in the shot.

Another scene was with Dahlia lying in a basket filled with white furs and lace, atop a light pink, patterned floor. I love this shot because of the simplicity of it. I tend to stay away from busyness in newborn scenes, because I want all of the attention on the beautiful little human. In this session, there were so many beautiful humans, though, and I loved capturing all of them! Little Aurelie was so precious as a brand new big sister, already acting as a little mother. I loved her curly hair and her bright smile. She loves to dance, and the session was made even brighter with her dancing around the room!

Mom and dad found me through a Google search, and loved my portfolio so much that they just had to have a session. “We absolutely loved every set design you chose!” Sandy said, “I’m amazed at how you kept Dahlia asleep, comfortable, and happy for the entire shoot! The girls all had a great time.” It was such a joy and pleasure to meet this wonderful family, and to capture everyone in this newborn session. If you’re in the market for a photo shoot, look no further! Contact me here to reserve your session.

Over the moon dad and mom with firstborn, a baby boy, swaddled in delicate baby blue fabric for newborn portrait session

Legacy of Love | Greenwich Maternity & Newborn Photographer

There’s nothing like watching a friend you’ve known for years finally get something they’ve always wanted. That’s what I was able to experience when Peter married Natalia, and when they had their first child together. Peter has been my personal trainer for 8 years (I met him when my daughter was only 1!). I remember years back how excited he was to have kids someday. Most of his clients had children and always talked about them, which only fueled his passion. Looking back, he’s thankful for that time, as he was able to get a lot of free advice and knowledge of the joys and challenges of parenting.

Peter is originally from Massachusetts, while Natalia is from Mexico. They ended up meeting at a park in Greenwich, and it was love at first sight. When he first told me about Natalia once they started dating, he said that he had met “the one”. I remember being so excited for them! Now, years later, I had the precious joy of doing both their maternity and newborn sessions.

For the maternity session, I loved finding creative ways to highlight Natalia’s belly bump, and used simple things like a white backdrop and a single cloth to let it have the spotlight. Both Peter and Natalia were glowing when they arrived for the session, so eager and excited to meet their little bundle of joy. They were about equally as happy as they were when they got married, which I witnessed when I photographed their engagement session and their civil ceremony in Greenwich (their wedding was in Mexico). I distinctly remember the big smiles they had during both events.

When their baby boy finally arrived, they were over the moon! The newborn session went like a dream, and we had a lot of fun with a variety of scenes. For one, we swaddled him in lots of fur, making for a soft picture full of cuteness. In another scene, we set him in a basket full of blankets, and went for a grayscale palette to highlight the pops of blue, as well as his precious skin tone. Some of my favorites from the session, though, were when everyone got in the picture. Peter and Natalia were grinning ear to ear, and you could tell that Peter was so proud of his newborn son, while Natalia showered him with love. All I could think of was how precious waiting is when you realize the value of what you will receive.

If you’re in the same boat as Peter and Natalia were, then you need to check out my Belly to Baby Package – it’s the perfect package for you! Contact me here to reserve your session today.

Baby girl posed with red tutu and red flower headband in gorgeous basket in front of twinkle lights for holiday themed newborn portrait session

Meeting a Need | Connecticut Newborn Photographer

If I had to pick something to do for the rest of my life, chances are it would be newborn photography. It’s the perfect blend of each of my greatest passions, from setting up a scene, to working out the best way to capture those tiny features, all the way to the time spent with the family and their precious new human. So when I got a call from a family whose photographer canceled last minute, I jumped at the chance to give them the session they deserved.

I was happy to fit them into the schedule, even though it was during the holiday crunch for family portraits and cards. They were so grateful to have a session for their lovely daughter, who had just been born. Because it was during the holiday season, we went ahead and created one set design for a joint birth announcement/holiday card, and they were so thrilled with how it turned out! For the newborn session, we wanted to go for a variety of scenes, as well as a holiday theme with Christmas colors.

I loved setting up the pink floral theme, which had the perfect color tones and textures to play off of her light skin tone, and I was even able to get a gorgeous shot of her precious little feet. We also went for a bit of a white space scene, with a pop of green on her headband, and a bit of lace around her to add a some texture. Then we got the whole family in the shot (besides their Pomeranian puppy!), and set up a lovely green backdrop full of Christmas lights for that whimsical feel. Mom and Dad looked so in love with their little bundle of joy, and their daughter looked wonderful.

It’s stories like this that make me love my job so much! I was thrilled to meet such a precious need for this lovely family, and it was a joy getting to know them. If you’re in need, don’t hesitate! Contact me here to set up your session today.

Enjoy!
