Newborn Photography Greenwich – Baby Logan

Sandra, Logan’s mom, wanted to have a family newborn photography session so that she could look back on these images and cherish this special time forever. In her client survey, she shared with me how she wanted poses similar to and would complement the maternity and newborn imagery from big sister Taylor’s sessions.

As soon as baby Logan entered my studio, I fell completely in love with my business all over again.

0660 Looking Up Photography0690 Looking Up Photography

When I first learned that Sandra and her husband Andrew selected me to photograph the newest addition to their family once again, I was totally thrilled. After the challenges I faced as a photographer due to COVID, it was a welcome relief to see a ‘repeat’ family. Sandra made some photo orientation suggestions so that the photographs from this session could complement a family portrait and solo newborn portrait of Taylor already on display on a gallery wall in their home.

Even with the bulk of the coronavirus pandemic hopefully behind us, there’s always an element of nerves when it comes to scheduling sessions these days. But as a professional photographer, it’s so important not to worry and to know that what will be will be. There is always hope in the world and we have to trust in the universe’s timing – not ours. My smallest clients are the most amazing proof of this.

0698 Looking Up Photography0585 Looking Up Photography

Sure enough, this family newborn photography session went off without a hitch. These days, I almost cry with joy every time I have the honor of culling and editing another session. I have also had the best time adding to my newborn photography accessories collection. After all, who doesn’t love seeing a newborn baby in a basket (or a basin, in this case)?! It’s just so much fun.

0615 Looking Up Photography

The moment we placed big sister Taylor and baby brother Logan together, I could feel the rush of love Sandra and Andrew have for their little ones. Having children can be like falling in love all over again as parents’ hearts sync with their new baby. Looking forward, I hope to see this beautiful and healthy family again for some family portraits. Seeing my tiny clients grow up is a dream come true.

Newborn Photography Connecticut – Baby Navy

Navy’s mother, Samantha, shared that it was her previous experience with Looking Up Photography that brought her and her growing family back into the studio for a second family newborn session. Their family values “someone who takes great photos and makes you feel at ease”, which is such a compliment to me. Samantha told me that she enjoyed everything about our last session together, and that the photos she has from big sister Noa’s newborn session are some of her favorite photos of their family. Even in the studio, I could see baby Navy living up to the strength of his powerful name. Samantha wanted the same bonding experience she had during Noa’s newborn photo session and I was thrilled to deliver that for her. Now the family can look back at both sets of photos and admire their family’s fortitude and resilience.

If you’re a parent yourself, you know that adding another child to the family will forever change it. Parenthood may be more of a guessing game than we would all care to admit, but something we never have to guess about is how our hearts are always capable of giving out more love. New parenthood is physically and emotionally exhausting, and that experience is only intensified by COVID.

0299 Looking Up Photography0308 Looking Up Photography

It is my hope that this time together as a family, in my studio, made this family’s love for Navy and each other stronger. It was a celebration, after all!

With the family photos, I tried to capture this family’s sweet dispositions and easygoing natures. Family is a treasure and it is so important for everyone to have photos to show just how special their family is.

Merritt – A Studio Session at Three Weeks

I was so excited to shoot this last-minute newborn session in Greenwich, Connecticut at the Looking Up Photography studio. This family contacted me a couple of weeks after baby was born. They came to me because Merritt is their third child and they realized that they hadn’t commissioned newborn portraits for their other two children. They wanted to be sure Merritt had imagery to celebrate his birth, his natural sweetness as a newborn, and also his unique appearance. They contacted me and we captured Merritt’s newborn imagery all over the course of a week. Although I always recommend reaching out to me as soon as possible, when you’re expecting to welcome a new baby into your home, I love accommodating these sessions when I am able to. With any luck, we get perfect, sleepy poses with access to all of my props, swaddles, newborn outfits, and accessories … and … we can usually capture baby when they’re a little more alert. Eyes-open shots sometimes become some of my favorites, and they’re always beautiful!

0005 Looking Up Photography0017 Looking Up Photography0011 Looking Up Photography

Perfect Merritt. Alert and so very interested in what’s happening around him.

0034 Looking Up Photography

We got to capture a variety of setups. Here is sweet Merritt modeling one of my favorite caps. Just look at those tiny details. I also love how it contrasts with the chunky knit of the blanket he’s snoozing on.

0064 Looking Up Photography0076 Looking Up Photography0091 Looking Up Photography0095 Looking Up Photography

I love it when I’m able to get so much variety out of my setups. Many times, I focus on 2-3 prop displays and am able to produce a full and diverse gallery from those looks. I have been known to photograph from dozens of angles simply because I am especially inspired by the props or because my little subjects are so captivating.

Thank you, baby Merritt, for a fabulous session. You were a dream!

Ever | Newborn and Two Month Studio Newborn Sessions

The beautiful thing about studio newborn photography is that family’s session is unique. There’s no “one size fits all” session for my clients. That’s why I love thinking creatively about my studio newborn sessions. A studio newborn session with Looking Up Photography is built to encourage family bonding and even imagination. From crowns for a prince to literal feather beds, my goal is to create a dream world, and to capture those memories to be enjoyed for years to come. That’s what I did with the “B” family. I had such a blast photographing them.

Adventures in Family Newborn Photography

This family newborn session took place at my studio in Greenwich, Connecticut, the Looking Up Photography studio. Because each member of the B family has such unique personalities, I wanted to make sure that their images were as unique as they are!

I pulled together two very special shoots for this family – one for newborn images, and one at Ever’s two-month mark. The resulting photos were stunning and really capture their love for each other!

Making Photo Memories

Both sessions were full of family moments of jokes, singing, wrestling, laughs, and more. But what’s more important is that we made memories during these studio sessions. It was a beautiful experience for all of us. And, best of all, it’s captured in beautiful photographs to be enjoyed for years to come.

Judah’s Studio Newborn Session

If you’re expecting a baby, or already a parent and looking for a newborn, maternity, or family photographer, I would love to work with you to create images you’ll love for a lifetime. You can also give sessions with me as a gift, which is exactly what my friend Susan Isaak did. Susan is a real estate salesperson in town, and she purchased a newborn session as a gift for her clients. What a gift!

As a professional newborn photographer, my goal is, of course, to have a baby who sleeps through the duration of the session! I prep my clients in detail before their session. Partners can switch off this ‘duty’ while the other gets ready for the session. Parents can also try to feed the baby 30-45 minutes before their session time, so we’re almost guaranteed that there will be a good diaper change before the session! If mom is breastfeeding, it’s best to avoid drinks and food that can give baby gas before session time.

Even if parents follow this advice perfectly, every now and then I’ll have a baby who has a harder time getting settled. As a professional newborn photographer, you know I have a few tools and tricks I use to help settle baby. Still, there’s always a chance that the baby just doesn’t want to sleep. In those cases my job is to put parents at ease so that we can all roll with the punches and I can deliver an absolutely beautiful final gallery. Whether baby is asleep or awake, my goal is always to keep everyone happy.

An awake newborn was not my experience with Judah, who was just the most perfect little subject. I’m pretty sure he was asleep the whole time!

Judah loved to stretch, and wiggle his arms and toes out of the swaddles, which made for some absolutely adorable images. It also made my job of snapping photos of his little toes that much easier!

Danielle and Carl were incredibly calm and had a go-with-the-flow attitude. I loved working with this precious family!

Austin, Aiden, Natalia and Peter

What’s better than getting to photograph a couple’s first child? Getting to photograph their SECOND child, as well! That was the case when I got to photograph this adorable family over the course of Natalia’s pregnancy, both on-location outdoors in our amazing Connecticut scenery, and at the Looking Up Photography studio. For this two-time Belly to Baby package client, I’ve now been lucky enough to photograph many different sessions, each of them featuring amazing clothing selected by Natalia. For our most recent session together, little Aiden looked adorable in his white polo and gray chino shorts.

Belly to Baby: Aiden

Outdoor Maternity Photography in Greenwich, Connecticut

Even at only a few years old, now big brother Aiden is sweet and sensitive. My friend Peter is a fun, energetic, and proud papa. Mom Natalia is a classic beauty. She is full of poise and adores being ‘smothered’ in love by her two (now three!) boys.

Natalia’s gown for her maternity session was inspired by the dress worn by Megan Markle for her second pregnancy. Natalia also provided me with access to her Pinterest board, for inspiration, which was incredibly helpful! Of course, once Aiden saw his mama in her beautiful gown, he thought she was the most beautiful in the world. He has the best expressions! And really, is there anything cuter than a fabulous pregnant mother holding her firstborn?

I love how our first set of photos truly captured each family member’s personality. There’s loving energy from Peter, a thoughtful, dreamy look from Natalia, and just enough twinkle in Aiden’s eye! My goal as a newborn, maternity, and family photographer is always to capture genuine expressions and real joy. Outdoor sessions like this one allow me to build a unique and fun session based on the things that make a family unique. I had so much fun pulling together this little ‘adventure’ for these amazing souls.

Looking Up Photography Studio Newborn Session

I’ve enjoyed photographing this beautiful family so much. Each session has been different, and filled with inspiration. Being able to include Natalia’s parents in a photo, in the studio, added an extra special element to our photo sessions.

The Sweetest Sydney This Side of the Equator – Connecticut Studio Newborn Session

Photographing newborn baby girls is one of the staples of my business, but in the summer months they are extra sweet! I photographed this session about a month ago and it is one of the sweetest ever! One of my favorite families asked me to photograph this adorable session for their newborn daughter, Sydney. And mom specifically asked for some professional photos of Sydney with big brother Jack, whose newborn session I captured in 2019. I’m excited to share this Greenwich studio newborn session with you!

1474 Looking Up Photography

Talk about an entrance! Sydney is such a beauty, I had to deck her out – Swan Lake style! This feathery backdrop did its thing, softening that newborn skin. And of course, the floral headband finished the look perfectly.

Our adorable setup was set in my local studio. I always have fun using these precious layers of white, which were specifically requested by mom. White allows me to really place my freshest little clients as the centerpiece of each and every image! And I didn’t hold back for this studio newborn session.

The Next Generation – Riker’s Connecticut Newborn Session

With so much space travel news happening lately, I thought it fitting to share this session, in honor of The Final Frontier! And of course, it’s a studio newborn session. Once I photograph a session in my Greenwich, Connecticut studio space, I find it hard to forget about for awhile! I guess I’m going to have to face it – my professional life revolves around miniature humans and, well, I’m here for it. Follow me into the Great Beyond because this is one studio newborn session that will be sure to put a smile on your face. An out-of-this-world smile, if I may say so.

0832 Looking Up Photography0839 Looking Up Photography

Let’s start with Riker’s solo images, shall we? My clients always come up with the most amazing baby names and Riker was no exception. How adorable is his Star Trek: The Next Generation inspired name? And what kid wouldn’t want to tell their friends that they’re named after Captain Picard’s first officer?! I think I can say I fully endorse a solid, fandom-inspired name! Yes!

0861 Looking Up Photography0882 Looking Up Photography0783 Looking Up Photography0810 Looking Up Photography0714 Looking Up Photography

This was such a fun setup, and so simple and contemporary per mom’s wishes. I love that Erica took this as an opportunity to update their family photos, and also to get some solo pictures of big brother Wyatt. Over the past year, so many families just didn’t have the time or opportunity to update their family portraits. Needless to say, Erica and David are big Star Trek fans and, as I mentioned above, used Star Trek: The Next Generation as the inspiration for Riker’s name! I am feeling so inspired to go search for all the cute “geeky” baby names now. What a wonderful way to show off your family’s personality!

Of course, the lighting in my studio didn’t disappoint. I’m obsessed with how wonderfully this space performs for me, for each and every session. It is absolutely wonderful! And I love the fawny backdrop I used for that first set of images, that went along with mom’s contemporary décor and added a pop of texture to Riker’s newborn gallery.

0909 Looking Up Photography0689 Looking Up Photography

The studio lighting created the perfect environment for some family newborn pictures. I know I say that all the time, but it’s true! Those tones are so gorgeous and I adore them.

Fun in the Studio with a Green Newborn Session for Finn

I love when my clients come back to me for another session – there’s nothing better than setting up for a studio newborn session with a sense of familiarity! In this case, I had previously photographed Finn’s big sister Camilla. I mean, it doesn’t get better than that! According to mom, “It was perfect!”, so they took advantage of that feeling and booked a newborn session for their newest addition, Finn. Finn was quite sleepy, of course, for his debut session, and I photographed him with green and cream accents per mom’s request. A day in the studio, and tons of fun, and I’m sharing a selection of the images with you!

Isn’t this setup spectacular? I enlisted the assistance of a digital feather backdrop to get that terrific texture in a few of Finn’s gallery images. Modern farmhouse accessories along with that wonderfully creamy hue helped it all come together perfectly. I can always count on discovering something new to love about each and every studio newborn session in my Greenwich, Connecticut photography studio space.

A Fresh, Twin Newborn Session with Mallory and Jack

I don’t know about you, but spring has to be one of my favorite seasons for newborn sessions! I am constantly hosting families in my studio throughout this season, as well as enjoying the longer days with my own family. I always love finding fun props and colors to use in my studio newborn sessions. There’s just something about the hues and accessories featured in this session that remind me of everything great spring has to offer!

Get ready to see how I used my studio collection by adding soft colors, vibrant patters, and a stunning, cream-colored collection to create the perfect twin setup.

You can see big brother Nicholas’ session here.

0622 Looking Up Photography

I always like to start off my newborn sessions with lovely posed portraits, and if I may say so, these twin images take the cake! I was inspired by the fresh start spring brings each year – but I was especially feeling that deeply, this year. When I think of spring, I think of new beginnings. I must say, these photographs are all styled beautifully!

This space in my studio is always perfectly lit thanks to a large window, and it creates the perfect nook for family portraits! For the family photos, I used a large, vintage looking, tufted chaise. It kind of felt like we were in the French countryside!

0478 Looking Up Photography

With those gorgeous smiles, I needed no embellishment! Right away I knew that simple would be best. My wonderful ‘models’ took care of the rest! I set the family naturally on the chaise, and gave small bits of direction for the most natural results. I love these images because they are so versatile and will display beautifully anywhere in Tara and Jon’s home.

I finished my family newborn session with a special request from mom to include Hannah Bear in a few images. For studio newborn sessions, I love accommodating special requests when I can; they’re always incredibly special, and the Hannah Bear photos turned out wonderfully!

From Belly to Baby – Ashley Welcomes Bernie!

Another client pregnancy has gone by, and #smbc (that’s Single Mom By Choice) Ashley has welcomed Bernard into the world! We have celebrated him and his mother with a maternity session, and now we have captured his delightful first days of life, as well. Even – or maybe especially – during a global pandemic, life finds a way! I’m always open to receiving session ideas from my clients, which was exactly what I got from Ashley, who found Looking Up Photography recommended in a What to Expect group for expecting Connecticut moms. Ashley’s maternity session took place at Tod’s Point, which served as the perfect setting. That dress, and that hair! Ashley looked like an absolute goddess! Our “Belly” session together made for one happy mama-to-be, and I’m very excited to share a selection from both Belly and “Baby” sessions with you all today.

I’m kicking off this post with this amazing series of images Ashley and I created together! I love how these maternity session photos turned out – especially the tones and dimension added by our location. As I typically shoot indoors, being outside was so much fun – and Ashley got to wear that gorgeous velvet maternity gown! We also had the most exquisite golden hour lighting. Isn’t it fabulous?!

Ashley picked out this adorable suspenders and cap outfit for Bernard! The outfit was absolutely fantastic … especially for a baby boy named Bernie!

What a cute little guy! I was so excited to have Bernard in my Greenwich, Connecticut studio. Especially last year, I was positively craving time in the studio! This boy was wonderfully angelic, and I relished in the opportunity to chat about Ashley’s ideas for our newborn session time together. The colors she chose for Bernard’s studio newborn session were fantastic! And that last pose is always a favorite of mine.

Let’s Make Memories and Celebrate with Jack’s Calming Newborn Session

Something I will always strive to instill in my clients is a love for capturing memories. When choosing a photographer, I know that their focus is typically more practical. Obviously, competitive pricing and my skills as a professional are important to me, but I mainly want my clients to have fun and make memories. Even as a professional photographer, I love doing sessions with my own family as frequently as possible and (for now) my family continues to love this time together, too! So, if you’ve decided it’s time for a session with me, and it’s something you’ve been wanting to do for awhile, know that it will be a crowd-pleaser among children and adults alike!

Peruse this calming newborn session and let me encourage you to celebrate with your own booking. I have all the tips and tricks in my professional tool kit to make it a success.

0691 Looking Up Photography

As always, gotta have that cute baby-in-a-basket image! A driftwood basket makes for the prettiest details. I am lucky enough to have a full closet of differently colored blankets and swaddles. This selection is always cleaned to newborn safety standards and ready for fun with my clients, with all of these amazing beauties to use.

How adorable are folded baby hands, and peeking baby toes?! Wait until you see the rest of these photographs.

I enlisted the ‘help’ of my trusty rustic crate to assist me in creating a few photos. This prop is a ‘need’ for any simple and classic newborn session.

What do you think of this studio setup? I think of one thing – zen! Mom and dad requested blue and gray tones only so I went all in on that! The star is, of course, my new friend Jack. Aren’t the images of him with his eyes open amazing? I love all of the colors and textures involved in this session. Then there are this cutie’s big eyes!

0805 Looking Up Photography0615 Looking Up Photography

I don’t know where to start with Morgan and Brian! As a family, there was just so much beauty to capture! Not only are they the most enthusiastic new parents, but aren’t they adorable? They were enamored in the sweetest way with Jack and I think they are such a fun new family.

Michael – Spring Celebration – Greenwich Studio Session

We’re just a few weeks into spring, and you didn’t think I’d let it go by without celebrating, did you?! Spring is one of my favorite seasons, by far – a season for all of us to emerge from our winter hibernation and celebrate new life. This year, spring holds even more hope, I think, as humanity continues to come together. When we allow ourselves to hold hands with our neighbors (figuratively, of course), we are stronger, and our world is at its best.

With that in mind, let’s look at this fun newborn session at my Greenwich, Connecticut studio. So, get ready to celebrate!

Location is essential to any newborn session! And it doesn’t get better than my studio. I love it, and I love this new family! Mom was born in Ukraine, and dad was born in Albania. Michael is the first baby born in the United States for both of their families! Beautiful. They also have a Pekingese dog named Mocha, who I’m sure will be a great older sibling to sweet Michael. I love the sparkle in Marina and Bepin’s eyes in their portraits with their son. They make me think that parents can be adorable, too!

Lucas – Greenwich Studio Family Newborn Session

I’m on quite the productivity kick as we enter into our second year of the novel coronavirus pandemic! It started with going through all of my sessions from over the past year or so, then selecting many of my favorites and preparing them to be blogged here. Of course it’s hard, as a professional photographer, to not feel what’s ongoing around us. That said, I do have hope for this year. I am blessed with the very best clients who’ve made the most of these exceptional times. I continue to look forward to celebrating new life, and lots of really fun sessions!

I’m excited to share one of my first sessions of 2021 so you can share in the joy of this sweet baby with me, and his family! This family is a repeat client; I adore seeing families back in my studio as their numbers grow.

You can also book a session for yourself at the bottom of this post – I made it nice and easy for you!

Knowing that some of my favorite clients aren’t yet ready for photo sessions is pretty tough. What a different feeling it is to know just how different the world will continue to be, for now. In some ways, the world has become almost unrecognizable. For those clients, though, we’re in communication with each other. We know that when the time is right for them, our sessions together will be even more special than before!

Everyone has to do what’s best for them and their families, and even though I’m not able to photograph some clients right now, I am still so excited to share the sessions I am photographing. This studio space has become a wonderful place for me to make growing families feel special, and welcomed, despite current circumstances.

My favorite thing about this session is the absolutely palpable love and pride. I’m sure you’ve been seeing on social media that some creatives are afraid to share their work right now. As for me, I want to acknowledge and love on my clients, who have allowed my livelihood to continue on. This session does just that, for me.
