Baby, Cake Smash

Reliving the Roaring 20’s | Connecticut One Year Session

The 20’s are back again, baby! And so is little Elodie, celebrating her first birthday with a 20’s themed Cake Smash Session. I loved celebrating her birth a year ago with her newborn session, and ever since then she’s only grown more beautiful and more full of personality!

Her parents, Leah and Patrick, worked together with me to incorporate the perfect theme for this birthday bash in the studio. I loved their idea to incorporate 20’s/Great Gatsby themed outfits and decorations into this session! The outfits were wonderful, with a pink onesie and a pink skirt reminding you of a timeless era, and a feathery headband with strings of pearls completed the look. The colors were bright and happy, to match Elodie’s beaming smile.

Cake Smash Sessions are some of my favorites, especially when I get to see how a newborn that I had the pleasure of meeting just a year ago has grown. Elodie’s parents were able to match the cake to her personality, as the cake in this kind of session is able to be customized and personalized to match the vision for the shoot. Before Elodie dug into her own gorgeous cake, we were able to capture some wonderful moments. If I had to pick, some of my favorites were her cute expressions as she sat calmly on our gray easy chair, waiting for a chance to get at her cake.

After a quick wardrobe change, Elodie was ready to dig in to her scrumptious cake, and she (and her parents!) loved every moment of it! Her pearls and her headband, combined with her frilly skirt, captured the atmosphere of the 20’s in a beautiful way, even if that wasn’t at the front of Elodie’s mind. She had no fear of the mess, and she started smashing away at the delectable in front of her. She was fascinated with the frosting, wiping it on her outfit and even painting the floor with it!

We were able to capture some wonderful forever moments to celebrate Elodie’s first year, and I’m sure that mom and dad will treasure these memories for years to come.

Is your baby’s birthday coming up? A cake smash session is the perfect way to celebrate, while capturing the precious moments in your family’s life. Contact me here to book your session today!

Covid-19 Photography Studio Policies

Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont signed an executive order that requires all “non-essential” businesses to shut down through May 20th. Therefor the studio is closed until May 20th.

Here are the studio policies and procedures moving forward in consideration of the COVID-19 disease.

These guidelines are borrowed from Katie McCarthy at Little Moments photography, who is both a newborn photographer/business owner, as well as a practicing Registered Nurse for the past 9 years.

The information found here is based on CDC recommendations, and adheres to the guidelines of the three-phased approach presented by the federal government.

When deciding to reopen my studio and resuming operations, I will be following the State of Connecticut’s regulations and ensure that my business can meet the appropriate guidelines outlined here: https://www.whitehouse.gov/openingamerica/

At Looking Up Photography, I make client safety my number one priority. My day-to-day studio operations have been adjusted to maintain a safe and sanitary environment. My plans for the first stage of reopening the studio are as follows.

COVID-19 STUDIO POLICIES
• Studio availability is limited to Maternity, Newborn and Baby photography only. Family sessions will take place outdoors, weather permitting and when the parks and beaches are reopened.
• Only the parents and the child being photographed will be allowed in the studio during the session. No extended family members will be permitted. Additionally I ask that siblings not be present during your newborn session. A family member may bring siblings for a family photo at the beginning of the session.
• Family members entering the studio will be asked to participate in a screening process.
• Temperature checks will be conducted upon arrival. Anyone with a temperature of 100 or lower will be allowed to enter the studio.
• I require shoes off at the door.
• I (the Photographer) will wear a cloth mask at all times. Masks will also be available for purchase for parents if they would like to wear one.
• Multiple sanitizer stations will be available throughout studio, as well as a bathroom for hand washing.
• Please bring your own prepackaged snacks/drinks.
• Standard cleaning precautions before and after every individual session will include: cleaning high touch surfaces such as doorknobs, phones, etc., laundering studio fabrics, emptying and sanitizing trash receptacles, cleaning and disinfecting the bathroom.
• Professional cleanings on a weekly basis.

I look forward to inviting you back into the studio and providing you with a safe space to capture your Precious Moments!

Savoring the Precious Moments | Connecticut Newborn Photographer

The anticipation of a brand new baby is something that just cannot be replicated with any other experience in life. It is a mix of excitement, nervousness, and pure joy. That is why being a newborn photographer is something I truly love and am passionate about. Getting to be there for the incredible families I get to serve is something I never take for granted, even on the long days…my clients bring me such joy!

Nicole and John are parents who recently welcomed a baby girl. They are first-time parents, so they experienced all the fresh emotions and joy of becoming a parent. These two met at work, and have been together for a joyous six years, and have been married for three of those. They were thrilled to find out they were expecting their new little miss, and she is simply perfect. Mom shared that she had purchased this “Hello, I’m new here” onesie, so we made sure to include that in some of these images. We also worked together to design a customized shoot that included their personal style, which Nicole describes as, “very classic, not super trendy”. I always seek to incorporate the desires of the families that I work with, so that their images reflect their personalities, and look beautiful on the walls of their home. I ask what their home style is as well, so that the images are truly usable and are going to be enjoyed for generations to come. Because Nicole described their home, their haven, as “minimalistic with modern touches and lots of neutrals”, we kept the photos in that vein.

When looking for a newborn photographer, it’s so important to know what you’re needing. For this sweet trio, they were seeking someone who would be very patient, and who would give specific directions as far as posing or styling. I love walking my clients through every aspect of their session that they may be uncertain of, and it means so much that they trust me. Nicole found me on an online list of newborn photographers, and we clicked right away! They planned to turn these images into products like an heirloom album, wall print, and announcements about their precious new addition!

If you are looking for a newborn photographer, I would love to welcome you and your sweet babe into my studio and capture these fleeting moments for you. Just contact me here!

Enjoy!

Celebrating the Gift of New Life | Connecticut Newborn Photographer

I love the excitement that comes through my studio’s doors. Whether they’re new parents, a single parent, or parents on their ninth child, there always is an incredibly contagious excitement at the arrival of new life in their family. In this case, Marc and Samantha are capturing the new life of their first child, a beautiful little girl named Noa. I loved every minute of their session!

When planning out the session with mom and dad, we landed on a color palette of creams, and two kinds of pink – pale, and peachy pink. Marc and Samantha’s vision for their session was for it to be simple, and to have a classic feel to it. One special request was for Noa to be in a tiny pink tutu, and we made it happen!

For the first scene, I carefully swaddled little Noa up in a pink fabric, and laid her on an assortment of fabrics and furs. I loved playing with the textures, and matching the colors to suit this precious little one’s lovely skin tone. Topping off the scene was a small flower headband, and Noa’s gorgeous features. We got close-ups of her tiny fingers and itty-bitty toes as she peacefully slept. We played around with this scene for a little while, removing other textures and loosening the swaddle to get the full range of pictures that mom and dad wanted to capture.

Marc and Samantha have been together for 10 years, meeting a decade ago in a Verizon store. It was love at first sight, and their journey of love led them to getting married in June of 2018. As soon as they got hitched they wanted to start a family, and their desire turned into reality when they brought Noa into the world, even though there were some bumps along the way. They dearly wanted to capture this special time, and celebrate the gift of new life that they were given!

I love making the newborn the center of attention in the session. For one scene, we gently laid Noa into a circle of white fabrics and materials, which was surrounded by dark green leaves. The pop of pink in the center brings the eye right to the beautiful baby, and it’s one of my favorite shots from the session. Better yet, though, is the picture of Noa in her tutu. The ruffled, tulle material paired perfectly with the driftwood basket, and the soft, white pillow Noa laid on completed the setting.

I loved capturing mom and dad holding their beloved little one in the session. With their smiles brimming with joy and excitement, they held Noa close while I captured moments that they will treasure forever. This wonderful family knows the precious gift of new life, and I am so happy that I had the pleasure of turning their joy into a keepsake that they can hold for years to come!

Capturing That Special Moment | Greenwich Studio Newborn Photography

It was a special time in the studio with this wonderful family. When I first heard from Taryn and PJ, the excited buzz in their voices was contagious, and I couldn’t wait to meet their first child. And just like Taryn and PJ, as soon as I laid eyes on their baby boy, Paul, I just couldn’t get enough of him! His newborn session in my Greenwich studio was such a fun time, with such lovely people.

Mom and dad chose a wonderful neutral palette, with greys and creams, and it worked out beautifully in Paul’s session. For one of the first scenes, we wrapped him up in a thin grey blankie, complete with sleeping cap. I laid him down on a white pillow, as soft as a cloud, and we got some wonderful shots. Of course, one of those shots was his cute little feet, with his tiny toes frozen by my camera, free from the effects of time.

Mom and dad moved back to Cos Cob after Taryn started teaching art at the elementary school in Greenwich, while her husband works at a consulting company in Stamford. They met all the way over in NYC, at their “favorite watering hole”: Dorrians, on the Upper East Side. This is their first, and the moment they met Paul, they fell head-over-heels for him. He’s the fourth Paul John in his family lineage, carrying the name into a new generation.

For another scene, I laid Paul on a thick, dark grey knit blanket, and his tiny smile showed us how photogenic he already is! We also laid him in a gray-brushed wood box, on top of a gray pillow with a sleeping cap to match. His parents love lacrosse, so we included the lacrosse stick as a special prop. I love getting creative with the parents, as they always have such wonderful ideas, and I love making the session more personal and true to who they are.

Finally, we got everyone in the shot – in their pajamas! They all had matching outfits, and it was one of my favorite moments from the whole session. The pure joy that Taryn and PJ have for their boy was a beautiful thing to witness and capture. The nuzzling of noses and the loving gazes are frozen in time forever, to be forever enjoyed by this gorgeous family. I love that they will always be able to look back on these precious, special moments and remember all of the wonderful memories they made on the way. They’re sure to make plenty of those with their new little one!

Waiting Patiently | Connecticut Newborn Photography

In my sessions with families, I love to get to know them and what they value. So many families, if not all, value love, honesty, respect, and quality time spent together. Some will go further, valuing the practice of waiting patiently for things. This lovely family goes that extra distance, and has been waiting so patiently for their little one to arrive. I loved capturing the whole family’s joy in their newborn session!

Meet William George, a bundle of love who’s adored by his parents, Todd and Katrina, and his older sister, Victoria. Mom says there was quite a spread between the two siblings, eight years to be exact, and that they’ve been waiting a long time for William. For his session, we decided on a beautiful color scheme, with whites, grays, and blues. William’s parents wanted to keep his studio session classic and simple, and I think with mom and dad’s help I think we got what we wanted!

For one scene, I swaddled William up in a soft, antique blue wrap and laid him on a bed of grey furs and fabrics. With years of experience, I was able to keep William calm and sleepy while I gently posed him for the scene. His handsome profile was the star of the scene, capturing his tiny lips, itty bitty fingers, and kissable toes with my camera. Fast asleep, William enjoyed his debut in front of the lens!

His parents met over 15 years ago at work, and they’ve been smitten ever since. Eight years ago they had their first baby, Victoria, who dearly loves her little brother. She’s quick to share some of her favorite things with her brother, like songs from Disney or Kids Bop, and things that make her laugh like jokes and tickles. She was a dream in the session, carefully holding her sibling close as she smiled wide for me.

As I’m sure you’ve heard me say time and time again, some of my favorite pictures from a session are where the whole family gets in the shot. There’s just an energy filled with love, joy, excitement, and so many great feelings that I look forward to capturing it every time. This lovely family had this energy and more, and they couldn’t help but smile the whole time. It’s no wonder they’re so happy, they’ve been waiting a long time for a family of three to be a family of four.

If you want to capture beautiful moments like these in your own family, contact me here and we’ll get you booked for a session!

Enjoy!

A Family’s Love | Stamford, Connecticut Newborn Photography

I love seeing so many different, loving families come through my studio. They come in all different shapes and sizes, and their excitement at their newborns or their quickly growing toddlers is something that I love to capture. I was blessed to meet Cory and Jenny, 21-month-old Ava, and their precious little man, Aiden. This gorgeous family has showered so much love on Aiden, that it’s no wonder he was smiling in his newborn session!

For Aiden’s session, mom and dad wanted to focus on just this happy little boy as he is. His wonderful personality was surrounded by a palette of grey and blue in one scene, and cream and white in another. I loved swaddling him up tight in blue, and gently laying him on a furry bed of the grey fabrics and textures. We got a close-up view of his tiny little fingers and his handsome profile, and of course, we got a shot of his little toes, forever frozen in time as he grows.

Jenny and Cory, met in New York City through mutual friends, and have been together for about eight years now. They moved to Stamford about three years ago, and both of them work in the city. Some of their favorite things to do are vacations or quiet weekends together as a family. Aiden was warmly welcomed into their family, and I loved getting creative with mom and dad in planning out his session. For another scene, we wanted a rustic feel, so we laid the precious boy on a soft, white pillow. We put a cream and white stocking cap on him, and got the cutest picture of him sleeping on top of it all. We caught a few pictures of him awake, with his gorgeous eyes, and his parents now have a whole set of pictures that keep their baby boy from growing up so quickly.

This beautiful boy comes from a lovely family that I had the pleasure of working with and getting to know. With how much they love this new addition to their family, I know Aiden is in wonderful hands.

If you want to capture this joy in your own life, then contact me here! I can’t wait to hear from you.

Enjoy!

Growing Up So Fast | Greenwich Baby Milestone Photography

Our babies grow up soo fast! Ever since the day that we hold them in our arms for the first time, the clock seems to move faster and faster with each passing day. What seems like just yesterday was really six months ago, and our helpless little bundle of joy is starting to learn to crawl around on their own. Milestone after milestone is hit, and we may want to hit pause on life to keep them from growing up too quickly. If only we could! The next best thing, though, is freezing these moments in time, these big milestone moments that you want to remember every detail of.

This is exactly what Rebecca chose for her son Wesley! She wanted to capture these special times in her precious boy’s life to enjoy forever, so she chose one of my Baby’s First Year Packages, the Baby Milestone Session, which includes four sessions starting at 3 months, with the last session at their first birthday. Rebecca wanted to focus on capturing her son naturally, avoiding poses and too many props. This sort of session was perfect for that, as it’s built around showcasing the baby as they are in each stage: grabbing their toes, tummy time, sitting up, crawling, and standing, building up to their first birthday!

For Wes’ session, Rebecca loved the idea of white on white. At the 3-month shoot, she dressed her boy up in a white, short-sleeve onesie, and we kept the same theme going throughout all of the sessions. Wes’ handsome smile and gorgeous auburn hair were on full display as they stood out against the white backdrop, and I loved capturing his happy personality!

Mom said, “I’m hoping for all of the photos to focus on what he is doing naturally at the time of the photos, starting with tummy time or on his back reaching for his toes. I want to capture the way he interacts with the world naturally at each interval.” This was our focus for the whole year, and we started with Wes on his back in the first session, and when he came back 3 months later, he was already starting to crawl! On the white wood floor, we got some wonderful shots of Wes just exploring his surroundings, always with a smile.

At nine months, we included a small, neutral chair in the mix, as Wes was now pulling himself up. He was also very good at crawling, which made for a fun time in the studio! He always seemed fascinated with the camera, looking straight into the lens. You can tell that he already loves being in front of the camera! On his birthday 3 months later, we celebrated with our final session. With a gray balloon, fitting into our neutral theme, Wes stood tall, still smiling wide for us. The joy of getting to know this wonderful family and this beautiful little boy made for a great experience, both for me and for Rebecca. She now has a full year of milestones to look back on, even as Wes grows more and more.

If you want to capture these beautiful moments in your own life, contact me here to book your session today!

Beauty in Simplicity | Greenwich Newborn Photographer

Happiness looks good on Sandra and Andrew. This lovely couple recently welcomed their gorgeous little girl, Taylor, into the world, so it’s no wonder that they can’t help but smile! Sandra and Andrew’s love story started 9 years ago, when they met through mutual friends, and you can see that that love has only grown over the years.

The couple chose one of my Belly To Baby packages, since this is their firstborn, and they wanted to be sure to capture their sheer joy of anticipating this major life event, as well as celebrate the arrival of baby Taylor.

For Sandra’s maternity session, we visited Greenwich Beach (aka Tod’s Point), and I loved the shots that we were able to get there. The couple was a little shy about being in front of the camera, but as we spent time together on the coast, everyone was relaxed and the results were stunning! There was a beautiful simplicity to the session; the outfits were minimalist, the colors blended well, and there was a pure joy that radiated throughout every moment. This expecting couple made it a fabulous day.

Then we met Taylor, who is herself a bundle of joy! We wanted to keep the newborn studio session simple and classic, so we focused on natural poses, neutral colors, and made Taylor the center of the session. I love the accent of the white bow on her headband, as it draws the attention up to her overwhelmingly cute face and all of her tiny features. For one scene, we gently laid her on a sea of fabrics, and got a close-up of her profile, especially that little button nose of hers. Sandra asked if we had any seasonal props to use in the session, like stockings or caps to make things more festive. Of course, the studio had a whole selection of props that included this wonderful little Santa knit cap, and I can’t get over how adorable it looks on Taylor!

Seeing Taylor held in her loving parent’s arms is an experience that I cherish, and I loved capturing these special moments for mom and dad. Sandra and Andrew are both so excited to be a family of three now, and I’m honored that they chose me to capture some of the most special memories in their life.

If you want to capture these kind of beautiful moments in your own life, contact me here to book your session today!

The Journey of Motherhood | Greenwich Maternity Photographer

Words can’t express how full of joy I was watching my dear friend Michal on her journey of motherhood. Thanks to this blog, you also were able to see her first maternity session with me, her first daughter as a newborn, and now her maternity and newborn sessions with her second daughter. I love looking back through all of the pictures, and remembering all the laughs and good times that we had during these sessions. Michal is a lovely soul, a strong single mother, and the best parent that these little girls could have!

Michal is from White Plains, and is a math tutor. She’s also one of the most creative people I know, and has the most lovely singing voice! I can only imagine the wonderful lullabies these girls get to hear while they fall asleep. For Michal’s maternity session this time, we went to Greenwich Beach, and I loved the symbolism there. With the landscape behind her, and the endless ocean in front, it represented all of the ground that she’s already covered, and the limitless future that her and her girls have. The colors were gorgeous; I loved her fuchsia dress with the flowing sleeves blowing in the sea breeze. I especially loved capturing the moments with her and her daughter exploring the beach together, navigating the sandy shores hand in hand.

Her precious little newborn’s studio session turned out wonderful as well. The color scheme that Michal and I worked out involved a gorgeous range of warm pinks, alongside a contrast of deep blues. Among a bed of reds and pinks, this pretty little girl lie fast asleep without a care in the world, and let me pose her to get a great variety of pictures. I loved gazing at her beautiful profile, as well as her tiny fingers and toes. The second scene found her gently laid in a basket, wide awake and surrounded by an ocean of blue with white polka dots. This little girl and her beautiful mamma together was a cuteness overload. The same is true of the picture with both sisters, as older sis smiled as wide as she could to show how happy she is to be an older sibling.

My favorite pictures from the session, though, are with all three together as a whole family. The journey to motherhood wasn’t easy, but I know Michal is loving every second of it. I loved every second of these sessions, and these girls have the best mother around!

Double the Fun | Connecticut Newborn Photographer

It’s not everyday that a photographer gets to take pictures of newborn twins! For me, it makes the entire session double the fun, because you get to capture double the joy on the faces of the parents, as well as design a unique shoot centered around both of the twins’ budding personalities. Mom and dad (Kim and Michael) have spent 4 years of bliss together, and have a 17-month-old son Thomas, alongside their boy-girl twins, Grace and Joseph.

Grace and Joseph are two of the most gorgeous babies you’ll see, and I loved the opportunity to get them in front of my lens! We decided on a color palette of whites, creams, and gold, and I loved incorporating these lovely colors into the session in my studio. It gave me the chance to use gold leaves, surrounding the newborns in the wicker basket with the colors of fall and winter. We wrapped them up tight in white; Grace was wrapped in a lacier fabric with a floral pattern and a flowery headband, and Joseph with a solid and cozy fabric.

We got close-up shots of their cute, tiny features. I especially love the shot with the two of them holding each other – there’s nothing more precious! We brought out the golden cream fur, and gently laid the twins one by one on it and got some shots of them individually. It was so fun looking at the two of them side by side and trying to find all the differences. You can tell them apart, but just barely! It was even more fun to have Thomas in the session, what with his joy in being a big brother to two siblings.

All of a sudden, a family of three became a family of five, and it was wonderful to capture the whole lot of them in this newborn session! Mom and dad were overjoyed to hold their babies in their arms, with Thomas between them. Grandma Viet joined in, and I do love the picture with her holding her swaddled grandchildren in her arms. I was able to capture so many precious moments for this beautiful family, and they are so happy to have these moments hung up in their home for everyone to enjoy!

If you want to capture those same moments in your life, contact me here to book your session today!

Love from Around the World | Greenwich Newborn Photography

I love to hear the story of how a couple met. Even after hearing hundreds of unique and beautiful stories, I never get tired of listening to the two of them retrace the steps of their love story. It’s amazing to think that, if one of those steps never happened, the two of them might never have met, and I’d never be able to capture their joy as they hold their newborn in their arms. This would be the case for Adriana and Doug if Adriana never moved to the U.S. from Hong Kong, where she was born and raised until coming to Connecticut. Today, Adriana and Doug are married, live in Greenwich, and have a 4-year-old boy, Quin, and a precious newborn boy, Dylan. I had the joy of capturing them all in my studio!

We started the newborn session by carefully placing their little one in a basket, padded with white, furry fabrics and wrapped him in a mint green blankie. We decided on a palette that included greens in this session, and I loved how it accented their gorgeous newborn’s complexion. I loved getting some close-up shots of his cute face, with his button nose and his tiny fingers all snuggled up. Of course, we couldn’t resist getting a picture of his precious little feet. They reminded me of how much of a privilege it is to capture these wonderful moments for parents, and to ‘freeze’ their baby in time. I love giving them the gift of remembering all of the tiny details of their children when they were small!

Some of my favorite moments in this session were the ones with the whole family. Mom, dad, and big brother all got in the shot with baby Dylan, and you could see the excitement and joy barely contained in their smiles. Quin was a bundle of energy, and you could tell that he already loved being a brother! One of the many blessings in this session was grandpa and grandma joining everyone. We weren’t sure if schedules would line up with the grandparents’ visit from Hong Kong, but in the end everything aligned and grandma and grandpa got to hold their newest grandchild in their arms. This precious newborn is loved from around the whole world!

If you want to capture this joy in your own life, then contact me here! I can’t wait to hear from you.

Enjoy!

Making up for Lost Time | Connecticut Newborn Photography

Conception is an amazing thing. Sometimes it can happen when you least expect it, and for others… you have to try for years and years, hoping and praying that this month is the month you’ll find out the news you’ve waited your whole life to hear. Callie and Mike are no strangers to the struggle to conceive. In fact, they have a website and their own instagram to chronicle their struggles with infertility. Their journey through all of the hardships and trials has ended recently with not one, but two bundles of joy being brought into their world! I’m so happy that they chose me to capture these precious first moments of two little people who are so special to them.

Mom says, “My husband and I have been married for nearly 7 years. We’ve always wanted kids, but it was a very difficult journey for us. When we found out we were having twins, Mike said, ‘Well, we’re making up for lost time!’ We made it to our c-section, scheduled at 37 weeks, and are loving every minute of our crazy lives raising twins!” I can’t really put into words the look of joy that these two lovely parents had during their newborn session. They had the biggest smiles on their faces from the moment that they walked into the studio! Their twins, Caden and Fiona, were two gorgeous bundles of fun during the session, and I loved the challenge of presenting both of their unique, budding personalities in their portraits.

We decided on a palette of blues, whites, and creams, to go with the baby’s fair skin, and Fiona’s lovely red hair. I especially loved getting close-up shots of their precious little faces, highlighting their tiny features. We accented Fiona with a simple, white floral headband, and laid the both of them on a bed of soft, furry fabric. The two of them so close together was a sight to see, and I just know that they’ll grow up to be wonderful friends! Some of my favorite shots were of mom and dad, showcasing the bursting joy and pride that they had as new parents.

The love that they have for their Caden and Fiona was a sight to behold. Equipped with battle scars from fighting against infertility, I know Callie and Mike will be the most wonderful parents to their two lovely children. Though they ‘made up for lost time’ and got a family of four right away, I know they wouldn’t have it any other way. Congratulations, you two! I loved capturing these incredibly precious moments in your lives.

Little Miracle | Greenwich Newborn Photography

While blessings come in all sizes, this lovely family’s most wonderful blessing was delivered in the shape of a gorgeous baby girl. Her parents, Sarah and Matt, are overjoyed to meet their daughter, Sienna, and I loved handling their newborn session. Sarah and Matt are fairly new to Greenwich, and have been in Fairfield County for three years. The happy couple has been together for 8 years, married for 4, and couldn’t be happier to have little Sienna in their lives.

For Sienna’s studio session, Sarah and Matt decided on a palette of pale pink, cream, white, and gray. We swaddled her up in a pink blankie, and laid her on a bed of white furs, and pale pink fabrics. I love the tiny accent of her pink headband with the single, small pearl. It was the perfect addition to the purity and simplicity of the scene. We got close-up shots of her beautiful profile, her tiny hands, and little toes. These small details on Sienna might seem insignificant, but they mean so much to Sarah and Matt, as this is their miracle baby.

Baby Sienna was conceived only after a long time, and many trials. But the result of the tough days is so much joy! I loved capturing this joy in Sienna by posing her carefully on a small, light gray chair, leaning on a darker gray pillow. She was awake and smiling, and it was a wonderful moment that I’m so happy to have captured.

Knowing what it took for Sienna to make it into her loving parents’ arms makes the photos with mom and dad ever sweeter. Gorgeous Sarah and handsome Matt looked on their little one with such happiness and excitement, and it was doubled over in the pictures with the whole family in the shot. I know that Sienna is in the best of hands, and will live a life surrounded by her parents’ unconditional love.

If you want to capture this joy in your own life, then contact me here! I can’t wait to hear from you.

Newborn Pride | Connecticut Newborn Photographer

I love meeting first-time parents. Their nervous excitement and their constant smiles give me such joy, from the moment I meet them all the way up to capturing the special moments right after they’ve met their precious little one. It was the same joy meeting Mom, Shivani, and Dad, Nikesh, face-to-face. The first thing I noticed was their infectious excitement, as they eagerly awaited meeting their little girl, Niva. Right away, you could tell this couple was going to pour all of their love and affection out on their tiny baby girl.

Shivani and Nikesh just recently moved to Connecticut from Texas, and have known each other since 9th grade. Since 2010, they’ve been sweethearts, and in 2017 they made the big decision to move away from Texas, where they were born and raised, all the way to the northeast, and they’re excited to explore the area. It was wonderful meeting them and the other big change in their life, Niva, in her newborn session.

I loved the creativity of the parents in this session. We decided on a palette of mauve, white, light pink, and cream, for a soft look to the session. We divided the session into two sets: one, with Niva swaddled up in my signature scene in the studio, and the other with a nature/jungle theme, with Navi dressed up as Nala, from Lion King. Both Shivani and Nickesh love the Lion King, so we knew we had to incorporate it into the session! I loved the creativity here, where we dressed up Niva in the knitted Nala costume from Shivani’s parents, and it made for an adorable moment to capture.

In the first set, we wrapped the little girl up in a light pink blankie, and set her in a basket of white furs, with a light pink backdrop. Her little smile was the cutest thing, and it carried over as we did close-ups of her cute profile, and her tiny toes. We modified the scene a bit by taking away the basket, and replacing it with some gorgeous, pink flowers that encircled Niva.

For the second set, we focused on the backdrop, as we didn’t want to take away from the amazing knit costume. We added flowers to give it a natural look, and laid Niva on a braided purple fabric, to compliment the greenery that surrounded her. The scene quickly became one of my all-time favorites, and it was the perfect way to showcase the pride that Niva’s parents have in their new little girl.

We finished off the session by getting Shivani and Nikesh in front of the camera. You’ll see their gorgeous smiles in the photos below, as they beamed with the realization that this child in their arms was theirs to love and hold forever. Their joy in Niva didn’t stop once the camera was off and the session was over, either. That love and joy that we captured is all you need to be great parents, and Shivani and Nikesh are overflowing with it. The whole session was so fun, and now this adorable family has captured some of the most special moments of their life to cherish forever.

Generations of Love | Greenwich Maternity Photographer

The journey from maternity to birth is one that usually isn’t walked alone. There is often the loving spouse walking alongside the whole way, supportive friends cheering us on every day, and family that will drop everything to help at a moment’s notice. This is especially true for Jennifer, and I had the wonderful opportunity to join her and capture her journey from maternity all the way to when they met their adorable son.

For the maternity session, Jennifer and her husband Darrell were joined by Jennifer’s mother, Alessandra. I love to see other beloved family members get in on the fun, and unfortunately it’s not something I see too often. The decision to have a maternity session was not the easiest one that Jennifer has made in her life (unlike her decision to say ‘yes’ to Darrell just three years ago), but it’s one that will pay off for a long time to come. Jennifer says, “I was initially reluctant to have a maternity session, but I think this is a time in our lives that we’ll want to remember.”

The shoot took place on a gorgeous day, which only complimented Darrell and Jennifer’s gorgeous style and personalities. Their smiles were beaming, and they made it easy for me to capture the essence of their happiness in the session. We got some cute pictures of the couple on the lush, green landscape, and during the session Alessandra joined her daughter to complete the picture.

This is one of those special moments in their lives that they’ll be able to remember forever, like the first moment they met each other online over 6 years ago, to when they moved from Manhattan to Greenwich, all the way to meeting their beautiful son, James. This beautiful baby boy lit up my studio with his budding personality, and I loved being creative and brainstorming with his parents on how we should set up his newborn session.

We decided on a palette of blues, grays, and whites, which worked perfectly with James. I gently posed this precious little one on a bed of gray furs and fabrics, swaddled in a baby blue blankie. I got some close-up shots of his adorable tiny toes, as well as his handsome profile. We also wanted to highlight how cute James is when he sleeps, so we set up a scene where he’s dressed in a night cap and posed with his hands under his head. I love the way that this scene came out! The whimsy is in it is something that both I and his parents love, and it was so fun to capture.

Something even more special were the pictures where James was with his parents and his grandmother. We got some lovely shots of James with mom, with dad, and with all three together. But one moment that I adored was with James, his mother, and his grandmother; three generations of love captured in one photo. It takes time to make that picture happen, and I’m so glad that we were able to freeze that moment in time.

Capturing the Moment | Greenwich Newborn Photography

One of the greatest gifts that you can give a new parent is a set of photos that capture their precious bundle of love and encase them in a moment. Every parent of a newborn knows that those first few days go by so quickly, and you end up having to fight for moments where time slows down. John and Valerie, being new parents themselves, are just starting to experience this, and they’re loving the journey. They and their gorgeous newborn Daniel visited me in my studio for a lovely newborn session, and the moments that we froze in time will be cherished forever by this wonderful family.

I loved the colors that Mom and Dad chose for the session. For one scene, we swaddled Daniel in a baby blue blanket and gently laid him on a spring green pillow, complete with a nice white wood background. He happily curled up, dreaming away, and we got some cute photos of his precious little feet too! In another scene, we kept the wood background and exchanged the pillow for a basket filled with a deep, dark blue fur, posing Daniel in another ‘sleepy’ pose.

We played around with other colors too, and for one scene chose a grayscale palette, posing an un-swaddled Daniel on fluffy fabrics and draping a gray or blue blanket over him. It’s moments like these, where Daniel is snuggled up, that just exude a warmth and calmness that you can’t find anywhere else. I love being able to snap a moment up from time and keep the gorgeous innocence of a newborn safe and sound; you can see what I mean with the tiny yawn we captured in his session. Mom and Dad had the loveliest smiles throughout the whole session, gazing on as their son experiences his first weeks.

John and Valerie know something about love, considering they’ve been together for about 14 years so far. They both grew up in Port Chester, and have known each since they were young. Knowing this, it made perfect sense that they work so well together. While Daniel is their first human baby, they brought along their first furry baby to the session, Shadow, their happy Shih Tzu. Shadow posed with Daniel and the rest of the family, which made the session all the more fun!

Of course, we made sure to get some great solo photos – with Mom and Daniel, or Dad and Daniel – along with some photos with all four members of the family. Trust me, you could feel the pure joy and excitement in the room as they held their precious newborn close, showering him with love. Valerie says that she’s enjoying being a ‘boy mom’ already, and both Mom and Dad look forward to every moment they get to spend with their baby boy. I’m so thankful that I was able to freeze just a few precious moments in time for them to cherish for years to come.

If you want to capture those beautiful moments, contact me here and book your session today!

Perfect Patience | Connecticut Newborn Photographer

Waiting for a baby to arrive can take some real patience. From the first thoughts of all the wonderful ways that life will change with the arrival of the little blessing, to the last few days before giving birth, the whole journey from conception to birth is a real test of patience. Natalie and Jordan know this well, for the second time around now. They have two daughters, 2-year-old Sloane, and newborn Alice. We were able to include the whole family in their newborn session, and it sure was a wonderful time in the studio!

Patience is a big part of a newborn session. That perfect picture takes a good deal of time and effort to get, and it takes teamwork to make it happen. I love brainstorming with the parents before the shoot, getting a feel for who they are and how they envision the perfect way to capture their precious little one. For Natalie and Jordan, it was with a palette of creams, grays, and pastel pinks in scenes with soft furs and fabrics surrounding Alice. We captured this dreamy little girl in a pretty pink setting that gave it an airy feel, with Alice’s perfect expression completing it. I love the pastel pink aura around her, and the cute little headband topped it off beautifully.

Posing a newborn takes some patience, and there’s often a lot of waiting involved. Once you do get them posed, sometimes you have to be patient to wait for that little yawn, or a smile, or just for them to settle into the position. Alice was wonderful, and you can see that in each scene. For a change of tone, we crafted a scene that featured a gray palette and floral textures, sealing the deal with a floral headband. I loved the tonal change between the pink and the gray, and it was so fun to work both of these colors into the session.

One of my all-time favorite things about these sessions is getting the whole family in front of the camera. I loved that Mom and Dad wanted to involve Sloane in the shoot, and it was a joy to capture her budding personality. The pure joy that you can see on their faces as they gaze at the new addition to their family speaks volumes about what kind of a family they are. You can see glimpses of this in the solo shots with Mom and Dad with Alice, especially in their beautiful smiles. But of course, the pictures with all four stole the show for me.

Natalie and Jordan were looking for a photographer who understands the importance of patience, especially when it comes to newborn photography. That patience comes easy when you love what you do, and I especially loved capturing this lovely family. If this is something you value too, contact me here to book your session today!

Enjoy!

Their Little World | Greenwich Newborn Photographer

Leah and Patrick are world travelers. In fact, they bonded over their love of travel years ago, before they were married, and ever since then they’ve gone from Connecticut, to Paris, to London, to South Africa, and to Thailand (and many more!). But looking at the joy on their faces as they watch their little girl in her newborn session, I can tell that this girl is their whole little world.

For their precious little one’s session in my Greenwich studio, we wanted to keep it simple and clean, with a color palette that focuses on just a pop of color here and there. That pop came from the blue blanket we wrapped the little one in, as we laid her on a soft, white bed of fabrics. To give it a bit more texture, we added a floral headband to finish the look. Her delicate features were especially highlighted, from her tiny toes and fingers to her little button nose. A few elements, like the simple colors, the intricate posing, and the textures of the fabrics all worked together to showcase this lovely baby girl, and made these pictures perfect!

Leah and Patrick know something about combining different elements together to create the perfect blend. Leah and Patrick said that they are two very different people – Leah being more outgoing, and Patrick more reserved – yet they still make the perfect couple, and the perfect parents for their newborn. You can especially see this in the photos that are one-on-one, or with all three. The pure joy, love, and excitement that radiate from these photos show you that this precious little one is in wonderful hands.

For the rest of her session, we had a few other scenes planned, including a simple scene with the almost-bare baby lying on her tummy, and another where we laid her in a box of gray furs. What was so special about both of these sessions are the different expressions we were able to capture. Her squeezable cheeks peeking out over her tiny hand, her contented smile, and what seemed like a very determined sleeping face all worked together to show you the budding personality that this girl has. In such loving hands, you can only imagine that she will become someone who changes the world that her wonderful parents love to travel.

Like Father, Like Son |Connecticut Newborn Photographer

There’s something particularly special about a new family’s first newborn session. The glow in their smile, the shimmer in their eye, and the pure joy they have when they first arrive in the studio is something beautiful! So when Jessica and Dan brought their precious little one in, my heart jumped at the chance to capture this occasion for this wonderful family. These loving, new parents met in college, but started dating after school, in 2011. Five years later, they got married, and just last year they bought their first home. Lots of firsts for this cute couple!

Something that Jessica mentioned first off when we were brainstorming the creative direction of this shoot was that she wanted to incorporate her husband’s guitar in the shoot. We did, and it turned out awesome! Seeing their boy, Emmett, paired with a symbol of something his father loves to do was a great way to represent the family lineage. Mom and dad also chose a gorgeous palette of whites, grays, and light blues for their baby’s session, which will fit perfectly among their farmhouse decor at home. Of course, Emmett is the star of any picture, and that was definitely the case in his newborn session.

We laid this precious little one, swaddled in a light blue knit, in a basket full of the softest blankets you can find. The rustic wood-flooring background was the perfect accent, cracking and fading, to highlight the perfect skin and bright glow of his tiny body. We got a good deal of candid shots, and of course, a couple pictures of Emmett’s forever-kissable toes. Posing him was a breeze, and in one of the photos I gently laid him on a pile of fur on a small, wooden stool, to complete the rustic look. It’s so important that babies are posed correctly, especially newborns. Years of experience and hundreds of hours of training allows me to have confidence posing any baby, and I’m so happy that mom and dad trusted me to pose Emmett!

Some of my favorite shots from this session are the ones with the whole family. The smiles on these lovely, doting parents made my heart skip for joy, and I was blessed to capture the whole thing. As they held Emmett in their arms, holding him close, you could tell that these new parents were ready to take on the world for their baby boy. If you want to capture this same spirit of your own in your newborn’s session, then contact me here!

Wrapped in Love | Greenwich Newborn Photography

There’s nothing like the smiles on the faces of new parents. You can see this beautiful happiness every time you look at Brian and Caroline, and their precious newborn Keira. Mom and Dad met while Brian was studying in Ireland, just 9 years ago. They were married 6 years later after being friends for 3, and have been head over heels for each other ever since. They said that they love to capture special moments, so it was no wonder that they wanted a newborn session for lovely Keira, including her now-best-friend Millie, their golden retriever.

For one of those special moments, we wrapped Keira up in a lace veil that belongs to her mom. She says, “The day of our wedding was extremely windy and because of it, I don’t have any photographs outside of the church with my cathedral-length veil.” Caroline had the wonderful idea of wrapping Keira in her veil, which I thought was one of the most precious things! To fit it, we focused on a light palette, with whites, creams, and pastel pinks. The star of every scene though was beautiful Keira, wrapped up tight in soft fabrics or her loving parents arms.

We wanted to get some closeup shots of baby’s tiny toes, hands, and lips. It was such a joy to pose little Keira, placing her tiny hands on her face to cradle her chin, and into a sleepy pose. Caroline and I agreed that those are some of the sweetest pictures, and I wanted to make sure to get plenty of them. Mom says, “My husband was instantly drawn into your photos and knowing me – it was the exact style of photographs he had envisioned for our newborn photo shoot.” We had the chance to brainstorm ideas together, and what came out of it was a gorgeous set of pictures.

In a couple of the scenes in the studio we used some white fur to add some texture to the backdrop, and a pink bow to tie everything together. Some of my favorites, though, were the ones with Millie in them. The picture of joy, she beamed over Keira, standing guard while she lay in the soft wicker basket. The best shots were the ones with the whole family, with Mom, Dad, Millie, and precious Keira all together in one special moment.

The grandparents joined in on the fun, so we ended up getting a lot of shots of some one-on-one time with baby. Knowing who raised Brian and Caroline, it’s no wonder that they are already such great parents. Caroline says, “We already feel protective of our little girl and want the absolute best for her. What I love most is knowing that she is half of me and half of the man I love.” You can tell in a moment just how much they love their little girl, and that happiness is what shown through Keira’s wonderful newborn session.

Celebrate Your Loved Ones Through Portrait Photography | Greenwich Connecticut Family Photographer

I strive to inspire my clients to celebrate their loved ones, their children, and their beauty through portrait photography. My dream for them is to have the images we create together become true heirlooms to cherish for generations to come.

Family is one of the most beautiful and wonderful things around. From the first “I do’s”, to the first child, all the way to sending your now-adult kids away to college, family is a journey worth capturing. I think everyone grasps the necessity for professional family photos, but when it comes to taking those pictures annually, it’s often met with excuses rather than excitement. Having professional photos taken requires some real work, and not just in deciding what to wear and where to have the session – they can be an investment as well. But they’re an investment worth making, and here are three reasons why you should have a session every year, and especially now in the fall!

The passage of time – It is in the nature of time to grow us, and it’s important to capture this each year, especially so for young families. Kids grow so quickly, like the colors of fall leaves, and having annual portraits taken will not only be a beautiful way to track their growth, but will also act as a visual journal of the memories of each year. This is important for your children, but also for yourselves as the parents of a rapidly growing family. In a family session, you’ll be able to get in the picture with everybody else, free from worry about any of the details that go into getting the perfect picture. Flow with the constant stream of change, and capture your family along the way.

The milestones you meet – Like the passage of time, the growth of your family means they will meet milestones along the way. Whether it’s the ability to sit up, the first birthday, the first day of school, a high school graduation, or anything in between, it’s important to capture these times in the life of your family. There’s something new each year, and after each one passes you’ll be able to look fondly at your family portraits, and remember the wonderful moments of the year. Photographs are the perfect way to keep a memory alive, and the more that you capture, the more that you can cherish.

The memories you make – The only things in life that truly become more valuable over time are your memories. Life is constantly moving forward, but it is a blessing to look back over all of the wonderful times you’ve lived through, especially as a family. The beauty of a family photo session is that you get to make it how you want it to be, and capture your own unique and beautiful memories to treasure. Maybe you have a favorite family spot where the autumn colors are perfect, and you want to have a picnic-themed session there, or maybe the whole family loves the way the city looks in the fall – no matter what it is, make it special to your own family. If you center your portraits on who your family is rather than making sure everybody is smiling, you’ll get so much more out of them, and make precious memories at the same time.

Those are just three reasons for having annual family portraits taken, and I’m sure you can think of a few more. The preparation and the work that goes into your session is so worth it, because your family is worth the effort. Mark the passage of time, memorialize the milestones along the way, and capture each beautiful memory. You won’t want to miss them! So contact me and book your portraits – it’s the perfect time for a fall family session.

Enjoy!

Expecting mom and dad relaxing in the grass with beautiful yellow fall colors for outdoor posed maternity session
Maternity

A Wonderful Wish | Connecticut Maternity Photographer

Parenthood is a wonderful thing. I love to witness the budding joy in the hearts of a new mom and dad, especially when their little one has yet to see the big and beautiful world they’re going to grow up in. This lovely couple has this same joy growing inside of them, and you can see it in their gorgeous smiles. They were originally from Michigan and Maryland, but have since moved to Darien in September of 2015. Mom says, “My husband and I will be celebrating our sixth wedding anniversary this year. We met in the library at law school way back when, and we’ve never looked back.” I love hearing a good love story, and capturing just a little bit of theirs in this maternity session was a true joy of mine.

We started off our session by sending mom to Maria Livesay Salon to get her all done up, which was convenient for us because it’s only five minutes from the studio. I offer this add on service for every session, and it was a wonderful perk to this mother-to-be! From there, we headed out to one of the prettiest areas around, where the all the colorful wonders of fall were on full display. Not to be outdone, this gorgeous couple stole back the show with their overflow of joy. Mom says, “A perfect day for us is one spent entirely outdoors – we love to play tennis, be on the water, and are avid hikers who enjoy discovering all that New England has to offer. My husband works in Greenwich (I work in the city), so this will be convenient for the newborn session!”

We wanted to get some shots with both of them of course, but made sure to get some solo shots of mom and her growing child. They brought along a wonderful book, called ‘Wish’. It’s a cute story; here’s the synopsis: “As an elephant couple embark on a life together, thoughts of children are far away-at first. But as the desire for a child grows, so do unexpected challenges. And it’s only after thwarted plans and bitter disappointment that their deepest wish miraculously comes true.” It’s a wonderful wish, and it’s been this couple’s wish for a while, too. They’re thrilled to become parents, and you can see it written all over their faces.

Enjoy!

Joyful Gatherings, and The Heart of Fall | New Limited Edition Festive Theme

There is a special beauty to fall and the winter holidays. You can see it in the wonderful colors appearing on the trees, the brisker air in the mornings, and the pumpkin-everything all around us. It’s hard to pin the wonders of the season down, and bottle up its essence, until you strip away everything but its core – its central beauty. We did just that with our new theme, Joyful Gatherings.

This season’s Joyful Gatherings theme has a heart of gold. Think deep, warm, and burnished golds, with creamy whites and rich browns. In the same way that you bundle up to face the ever-colder weather, this theme wraps you and your family in layers of warm colors, with a dash of festive sparkle.

It all starts in the studio, which will be all set up and ready to capture the soul of both you and your family. As parents, we know that capturing beautiful images of your family is hard, and often you’re lucky if you just get one photo where everybody is smiling. In our studio, we work hard to make sure that you not only get pictures with everybody sporting their smile, but pictures that you’ll love to show off as well. We have a passion for this, and in each of our themes, we make it so that the only thing you have to do is show up, and enjoy the process.

In this festive theme, you’ll have a 20-minute session at our studio in Greenwich, which has been decorated with the heart of this joyous season. You have a lot of session options available to you in this session, so you can personalize it according to what you love, and who you are. Joyful Gatherings is the perfect thing for your holiday cards, holiday gifts, newborn sessions, keepsake albums, cake smash sessions, and even makes for unique baby announcements. No matter where you’re at in life, we’ll meet you there, ready to capture it for you to keep with you forever.

You’ll have full access to the studio props and wardrobe, making for a simple and easy session. After the session, you’ll choose from 8+ professionally edited photos, and take home 4 high res digital images – and of course, there’s always the option to purchase additional images and products. That’s a good thing, because you’ll want to display these pictures all over your house, and even make them a festive centerpiece.

The exclusive Joyful Gatherings theme is only available from now until December 9th, but you still have plenty of time to book your session. Contact us for all the details, pricing, and open dates for booking.

We can’t wait to hear from you, and capture your beautiful family surrounded by one of our favorite themes yet. Come and get festive with us, and book your session today!

Enjoy!

Many Blessings | Connecticut Newborn Photographer

With time comes some of the most wonderful blessings. If you’ve been following the blog for a little while, you’ll remember my lovely friend’s maternity session, and her amazing story. Since then, she’s given birth, and her child is every bit as beautiful as we expected, and more so. The many blessings that my gorgeous friend has experienced during the pregnancy pale in comparison to the best blessing of all, that she now holds in her arms.

For this newborn session, we wanted to focus on a few different scenes, and include everybody in the shoot – even our furry friend! One of the scenes surrounded her gorgeous newborn in soft furs, a pink blanket, and a cute pearled headband to match. I accented with a flower and some textured grays, to round out the palette. I loved capturing the budding personality of this lovely new person, and I especially love the picture we got of those tiny little toes! We also got some photos of this precious little human against a lightly textured, white backdrop, so we could cut out the background and focus on the wonderful beauty of a newborn fast asleep. We brought out the driftwood basket again, and the contrast of using nature to hold a new life was one that I loved to use. But, the most precious photos were of mom and her child together.

It has been amazing to witness this wonderful friend of mine in her motherhood journey. She’s incredibly inspiring, and she teaches me so many things about life and what it means to be a mother. The love that she’s shown towards her child even while she still carried her inside was a beautiful thing to see, and it’s only ever grown since. I love how creative we get together, planning out our sessions and brainstorming the color schemes. I always jump at the chance to work with her artsy mind, and it truly was a blessing to capture this special time with her and her newborn. I can’t wait until the next session we have together!

Enjoy!

Exclusive Cake Smash Sessions | Greenwich, CT Photographer

There are very few things as precious as your baby. As I’m sure you well know by now, their first months go by so quickly, so much so that the thought of getting professional pictures taken was stuck at the back of your mind. Now that they’re nearing the one-year milestone, it’s time to celebrate their birthday with a smash, in their very own Cake Smash Session!

Looking Up Photography’s exclusive Cake Smash Sessions are centered on your gorgeous almost-one-year-old baby, and captures all the smiles, giggles, and joy your child experiences as they ‘smash’ their own special cake. The cake is personalized by you and your baby as you pick out the  frosting color, and theme for embellishments (allergy waiver required). I love the themes that parents in the past have picked out, from dapper bowties and mustaches all the way to cowboy-boot headbands and frilly skirts. They’ve all had such great taste, and in your own cake smash session, you’ll have a lot of freedom to showcase your own baby’s budding personality!

Before the big celebration, we’ll have a pre-session questionnaire via phone or email, so we can get a good sense of who your family is, to create the best session for you. Once you book your session, you’ll meet us in the studio with your precious little one, ready to dig in and get into the cutest mess – a mess that you don’t have to clean up! It’s the best of both worlds, where you can watch your baby have oodles of fun smashing up a giant cupcake, without any responsibility for the aftermath. As you can see from the pictures below, there’s a wide range of props available, where you’ll get to choose your favorites for your own unique theme. We’ll have up to a 60-minute session at our studio in Greenwich, CT, and we’ll pack every minute with fun and joy!

After we’ve captured all of the wonderful moments of your baby’s birthday bash, the photos will be professionally edited, and we’ll narrow it down to the best digital, high-res images, and set up an 11×14 print as well. Of course, there’s always the option to purchase additional prints and print products from your Cake Smash Session, because we guarantee that you won’t be able to get enough of this session!

Each Cake Smash Session is all inclusive. If you’ve purchased a package already and can’t live without seeing your baby in this unique session, then you can easily upgrade your Mini or Milestone Sessions to a Cake Smash Session! It’s the perfect option for your priceless child.

Enjoy!

The Beauty of Motherhood | Maternity Photographer in Connecticut

There’s an infectious joy that a new mother has, and it’s a beautiful thing to witness. This maternity session with my close friend was a joyful and wonderful time, and I’m so glad we were able to capture her happiness in her session! We both have a passion for creativity and love to put our minds together to come up with artsy ideas, which was perfect for this session. We experimented with different fabrics and flower accents, focusing on a soft palette to highlight her warm skin tones and timeless beauty. I arranged for her to get her hair and makeup done at Maria Livesay Salon, which is conveniently located only five minutes from the studio. It’s a service I offer to each of my clients, and it was a wonderful perk to this session!

My lovely friend hails from White Plains, and works as a middle and high school math teacher. She’s an incredibly strong woman, and a single mother, having her child through in vitro fertilization. I’m inspired by her courage everyday, and I have loved seeing her change into someone even more joyful and wonderful throughout her pregnancy. She’s always wanted to be a mother, and is so thrilled for what’s to come! She has a large and loving family near and far who are so excited for her, and can’t wait to meet her precious little one. My gorgeous friend sings beautifully and also plays the piano; I’m sure her little one will never tire of hearing an angel sing her lullabies.

The beauty of motherhood is one of my favorite things to capture. It was a joy to do that for this amazing momma, and I love how the pictures came out! I jumped at the chance to have a session with her, and we had such fun playing around with the colors and textures of the fabrics. It surrounded her with a soft atmosphere, perfectly complimenting her warm personality. She’s a wonderful friend to me, an incredible teacher to so many students, and most importantly, an amazing mother to her child. There’s no better example of a strong, confident, and loving woman!

The Bloom of New Life | Connecticut Newborn Photography

There’s a unique beauty in new life. In this session, that beauty was this gorgeous newborn and her loving parents, and the special bond that they have with each other. We had such a wonderful time in this creative newborn session, and I enjoyed getting to know the parents. Mom said, “My husband and I have been together for 9 years, married for 1, and happily expecting our first child together. We recently moved to Greenwich from Westchester, and have spent a lot of time designing our space.” She describes why this has been great for them: “It’s made us work hard together as we make big decisions, and in a sense, it’s been preparing us for parenthood and all the future stresses and choices we’ll be making together. It’s a growing experience, and one that I’m grateful that we get to share!”

I share Mom and Dad’s love for design, and wanted to showcase that creativity in their session. We settled on a set design that focused on vivid pops of color, with natural flowers and leafy props to go with their newborn’s blooming beauty. I loved swaddling baby girl in these soft and subtle fabrics, surrounded by the cuddly textures of the fur. There’s nothing softer than a newborn’s skin, though, and you can see how precious it is just by looking at her tiny toes. We also wanted to capture their little one without any distraction, with a simple white backdrop in my studio. Baby’s personality really popped with the minimal set, and the little bit of pink in the headband was the perfect accent.

No one was happier in this session than Mom and Dad, and it was truly special to see such a deep love for their newborn in their gaze. It was a joy to capture the whole family in this session. While you can never be totally prepared for a child, they are ready for all the stresses and joys of being a new parent. It’s exciting to see the love that they have for each other, and it’s wonderful to know that it will only continue blooming into something more beautiful as they grow together.

Enjoy!
